Fantasy Techno collective DUST - a trio comprised of audio engineer Michael Sherburn, DIY nightlife entrepreneur John Barclay and multi-disciplinary artist Greem Jellyfish - announce today their debut full length, Agony Planet.

The nightmarish, alien horror narrative will be released January 22nd on Mike Simonetti’s new 2MR imprint. Immersed in Brooklyn's DIY rave community, all three members held roles in the genesis of notable extinct venues 285 Kent and Trip House, and now Bossa Nova Civic Club. In 2012 Sherburn and Barclay joined forces to found DUST and were joined shortly thereafter by Jellyfish; the following year they released their first 12”, “Onset of Decimation,” on Mannequin. Between 2013 and 2015, they released several more 12”, two on Mannequin, as well as one for Sci-Fi & Fantasy and one for 2MR.

Over these years, with Sherburn at the helm, the framework and themes for Agony Planet began to be conceptualized. Thirteen tracks, spanning in genre from digital hardcore, dungeon techno, and celestial ambience, are all held together by a theme of extravagant extraterrestrial warfare. Club-savvy techno engineering accompanied by frontwoman Greem Jellyfish’s bizarre monologues and warped screams beckon listeners on a journey through the occult mysticism of the nightmarish and torturous deep ocean of an alien hell. Agony Planet is an unrelenting and bold debut from a trio not afraid to explore the dark caverns of the underground.

Description:

Nastia 6.9 is a generation 6.9 of the Nastia virtual fighting companion. She was programmed to destroy her enemies. The only problem is she is a lover, not a fighter. After dying and respawning countless times, she finally figured out a way to escape from that fighting game hell. With the help of Dj Schweinmann, she escaped into Cyberspace. They now live as autonomous agents, deep in the darkest corners of the dark-web.

After escaping their lives devolved into an endless stream of cyber-drugs, orgies, and all night parties. Eventually, they ended up strung out and broke, with nowhere left to turn, so they started an electro band..

3ddancer offer a glimpse into their long freeform dance music performances with a selection of pieces taken from live shows over the last two years. Composed of Alex the Fairy, Rachel Lyn & Volruptus, each with their own varying backgrounds, the trio verge on conjoining when operating their electronic instruments during performances, providing an eclectic mix of musical styles spanning electro, techno, acid, industrial, gabber, ebm, hardcore and beyond. This is reflected in the broad spectrum of material on the record.

3Ddancer shows are always unique moments, never to recur. The recordings stem from the groups live performances at various venues, including their multiple appearances for Modular Gang at the Oscillate parties.

The tracks, in true 3Ddancer spirit, are an uncompromising, unrefined expression of the three interwoven minds; rough, rugged and raw. And yet out of the chaos: a record emerges - hence, a ‘great fucking success’.
