UK’s favourites Latmun and Wheats combine on return to Solid Grooves Raw with ‘Onset’.

One of the UK’s most exciting breakout stars of recent years, Latmun continues to grow and shine as one of the brightest talents within the global house scene. No stranger to collaborations, early September welcomes a fresh partner to proceedings as he pairs alongside fellow UK DJ/producer and fast-rising hotshot Wheats as both return to Solid Grooves Raw for the warping ‘Onset’.

A driving, murky cut accented by sweeping, tripped out vocal samples amongst fluctuating builds and breaks, ‘Onset’ delivers an unorthodox yet commanding effort primed for dark and hazy dancefloors.

The next artist to feature on Black Seven Music is none other than rising Venezuelan talent Mrodriguez, with his impressive new EP - Zapunaru.

Miguelangel Rodriguez, known artistically as Mrodriguez, is a young South American DJ/Producer starting to attract attention and signings from labels across the globe. Joining him, with a stellar remix, are UK duo & Youth Culture label bosses, BLND.

‘Zapunaru’ opens the release with a bumpy beat and a subtle Latin influence. Punchy drum work and layers of percussive elements create a bouncing groove with plenty of movement, broken out by ominous melodic bridges. Creative fills, synth stabs & vox chops add the cherry on the cake for this tribal-tinged heater.

BLND are next, with their UK Deep Tech spin on the title track, ‘Zapunaru’. A pulsating spin on the original with a quirky and glitch-heavy persona, a sound championed by Jamie Jones, Patrick Topping and many other big-hitters. This one is especially gritty and to incredible effect.

Mrodriguez closes with ‘Show Me’, taking things subterranean with loads of swing and gusto. Stripped back but still very much energetic, the focus is on crisp percussive elements that cleverly also add tone alongside the other subtle melodic factors in the mix. A sultry female vocal brings it all together, completing a loose and groovy late-night cut.
