This next release demonstrates exactly what can happen when you merge a formidable heavyweight with one of the genre’s most promising talents. Jaguar Skills needs little introduction; he’s infamous for his ninja-like DJing skills with years stacked behind the decks. 

As a result, it was no surprise the artist tried his hands at production alongside Chord’s impressive musicality. Already unstoppable from its conception, ‘Lust’ could only be released on an imprint known for its high quality. And RAM Records is proud to unleash this toe-tapping, catchy piece of sonic artwork on the dnb community…One that’s already taken the radio airwaves by storm. 

Opening with a rhythm that curls itself around your aural senses, prepare to be pulled into ‘Lust’ by its funky groove and well-chiselled hooks. The vocal delight of Matti Roots really brings light to the seasonal feel this track creates; an arpeggio of notes underpins each high-hitting voice crescendo. Bright but not without substance, Chords’ production style is instantly recognisable. This debut from Jaguar Skills serves as a perfect platform for the high standards this mix-maker is about to set, as well as the benchmark which Chords has already carved. 
On the flipside, Break holds onto the A-side’s sunny disposition, yet throws down a riddim that hits as heavy as a freight train. The foundations laid by the producer are slightly different, as it rattles forward with clinking percussion, alluding to the kind of drop Break is renowned for. With his distinctive, boundary-pushing drum rolls and bouncy, booming and concise hits, there’s no mistaking a sound which adds another dimension to the remixes’ original. 

You're also served up with another dish which is vastly different from house-guru Monstro. like the previous edit, the record’s humanism winds up within the first thirty seconds, however the seismic impact of its drop rolls out into a house-bassline that thumps with every bar. A genre transition which doesn’t fall short of the original’s production prowess, prepare to hold onto your seats because this serves as the optimal way to wrap up two striking remixes of an already impressive track list. 

Dominating playlists for years to come, this release from RAM is yet again taking the genre to another level. But considering the parties involved, there was no other direction for this record to take.

Hybrid - Power Curve (Noisia Driveclub Remix)

Here’s the story…

I’m currently brushing the cobwebs off of my studio gear. I spent the last year or more touring heavily and I simply haven’t had that much time to work on music. When I’m home, in between gigs, I spend most of my time with my family. 

Now, I finally have some time off for the road and I’m hitting the studio as hard as I possibly can. My main goal is to come up with a comprehensive body of work, like an EP or potentially even an album. I don’t want to commit to what it is until I get some more ideas going, but the wheels are turning and I’ve got some really cool songs in the works.

In the meantime, I thought it would be a good idea to take as many of the half finished songs on my hard drive that I can and finish them up, and give them to you guys for free. This tune here, Bender, is a song that I started during last year's Animal House tour. I got back around to it recently and I just put the finishing touches on it. I’m hopeful that I can  knock these songs out and continuously give you guys free music again, on a consistent basis. That’s how I started this project and that’s how I want to keep it. No hurdles, no bullshit… Just easy access to music. 

That being said, this is my first offering. It’s a bit different for me in that I wanted to make a tune with a bit of a deeper vibe. It may not be a “peak-hour-edm-banger” or whatever, but I like it, and I hope you do too!

I’ll make sure to keep everyone updated on my progress with new material through all of my socials. Thanks so much for the love and support over the years!

Together, the two producers have as much experience and know how as anyone in the game, and, coupled with that, only ever put out the finest quality neurofunk drum & bass. Being a production line of carefully crafted composition with a meticulous production standard, Calyx & Teebee have delivered yet again. And after dominating the Beatport Top 100 with their most recent single ‘A Day That Never Comes / Snakes & Ladders’, they won’t be applying the brakes anytime soon, especially in the lead up to their greatly anticipated second album on the Ram imprint.

Back on vocal duties, Calyx demonstrates the pair’s multi-dimensional approach to beat making. With plucky percussion relaying you through bouncing subs and a drivingly solid bassline, it defines their vast repertoire of style. They’re not scared to dip into unfamiliar territories, with Calyx’s cool vocals sitting on top of lulling guitar rhythms to provide the first part of a diverse and brilliantly crafted record. 

‘Sawn Off’ rolls out next; it’s a grittier track than its predecessor, with a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, heighten by the effect of a cleverly placed sample. The track ricochets throughout, not losing momentum or impact, with an intricately weaved structure, one only achievable by a team who’ve been running the game for decades.  

With an album laying just out of reach, each single is bringing us closer and closer to the inevitable. All four tracks prove they’re still a formidable force to be reckoned with; this LP will only emphasise that fact. 


Sawn Off

The second track, sees ones of the Neurofunk scene’s pioneers return to Mindtech for another tour de force in aggressive Drum and Bass. Like any artists at the top of his game, Skynet’s style has progressed and evolved, so Disorder is just as threatening and grimy as you'd hope. Featuring an urgent synth line underpinned by a classic neuro-bassline, Disorder is the perfect blend of the old and new. As for the Drums?
Disorder pulls no punches, with snares, kick drums and everything in between arranged for the maximum rhythmic impact.

DJ FRIERA - SUMMER INDA CITY @ SALA EVENTS

With ADE looming on the horizon, it only seemed apt for Ram to yet again provide the perfect drum and bass entrée for Europe’s premium dance event. Set to bring another stellar line up from their roster, this compilation packed full of exclusives helps to epitomise the imprint’s legacy within dance music. Including brand new cuts, demonstrating the Ram’s longevity, this album plays homage to two decades of output. 

Leading you deeper into the dark side of 2015, this year’s Ramsterdam compilation not only pedestals the artists who’ve made such a titanic impact throughout the last ten months, but also the emerging talent from sister label Program and Ram’s newest signees. Whether it’s the old school, growling riddim from Aggressor Bunx, or Calyx & TeeBee’s tell-tale, trembling bassline, each track gives the album a unique vantage point.

Featuring on the collosal track listing is Delta Heavy; an exclusive which relays their elevating, pumping composition, it’s a dancefloor banger sure to detonate any crowd. And Frankee also makes a welcomed return, following the release of his anticipated single ‘Downtown’. ‘Raptor’ is unforgiving, snapped up by different animalistic samples and stridently aggressive – pedestalling Frankee’s unforgiving production standards.

On a totally different vibe, Freek is back with ‘Born Different’, a clanking yet powerful number, one which gears up into LFO-lead chaos with snapping percussion between each break. Brand new music from production outfits Teddy Killerz and Mind Vortex also make a very valuable addition, proving their unbridled talent, with merciless yet complex records that are fierce and gagging to be let loose on Amsterdam’s clubs. 
 
Two of this year’s most resounding tracks from the Ram camp, Bensley’s ‘Aftermath’ and Gerra & Stone’s ‘L.I.E.S.’ have also received revamps, providing two anticipated VIPs already igniting sets worldwide. Loadstar also deliver the goods; brand new heavy-hitter ‘Dune’ demonstrates exactly why they’ve become such revered names across the genre.

So, here’s to another Amsterdam Dance Event. One with a soundtrack provided by one of the most enduring labels, and stellar rosters, that dance music has played host to. And with Ram also holding a night this October, from first listen onwards prepare to be immerse yourself in Ram’s vast musical environment.

'Camber' sees Rregula taking a rare break from his collaborative Zombie Cats project to turn in a dark, minimalistic roller. Punchy sub and ultra precise beats give this one a really moody vibe.

The duo’s first single from their new album has already been supported by Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson and many more of the world’s leading tastemakers, and ‘All Or Nothing’ looks set to catapult this incredible production partnership to all new heights. 

Calyx & TeeBee’s debut album ‘Anatomy’, released in 2007 on their own label was an instant game changer; cited as a landmark album for the scene ‘Anatomy’ saw the duo unleash an almighty wall of sound that rocked dance floors across the globe as they took to the road with their 6 deck DJ sets, smashing apart sound systems in nightclubs and festival tents alike.  

Now, five years later, hordes of fans are aching for a new Calyx & TeeBee album and the duo are definitely not going to disappoint. Signing to Ram Records, Calyx & TeeBee have produced a long player that sounds fresh, current and forward-thinking. ‘All Or Nothing’ is their sophomore offering and is packed with new ideas, exciting collaborations, stunning musicality and an incredible level of technical skill. 

From the epic opening gambit, ‘Heroes & Villains’, it’s clear that Calyx & TeeBee have created something special with their new album. The D&B jazz fusion of ‘Pure Gold’ ft. Kemo contrasts beautifully with the vocal-led minimalism of ‘Strung Out’ and the hip hop excellence of ‘We Become One’, a collaboration with Foreign Beggars and DJ Craze.
