This piece for strings, choir, and harp was written in September of 2016. It depicts the somber feeling of seclusion and solitude often caused by depression or mourning. The choir symbolizes the voices in one's head, crying out for change. The melody follows a sense of longing for interaction, and the harp's repetition is similar to that of the daily schedule of someone coping with self-induced isolation.

Isolation

This piece for concert band was written in September of 2015. It depicts a story of other-wordly experiences. The three movements set the different scenes of the tale, movement one displaying tones of mystery and wariness. Movement two leads the story into an exciting scene with a fast pace. While movement three brings the story to an end with a bang!

Particles

This piece contains excerpts from a larger, unfinished piece for full orchestra. I first began writing the piece in September, 2016, inspired by the beauty of the Japanese garden near my university. In July of 2017, the excerpts were performed by a small group at the International Peace Gardens.
