London-based artist @Wordcolour returns to Houndstooth with a new single ‘Bluster’

In Wordcolour’s own words, "all the way back in January 2021, when the UK was entering its second national lockdown, I set myself the task of trying to write a club track. I wanted to avoid the lockdown temptation to write melancholic, dreamy dance music, and so found myself trying to remember what the club sounded and felt like at a time when raving was a distant memory.

The result, Bluster, continues some of the club experiments I began on my first EP "Tell Me Something", but with a beefed-up heavier sound aimed at slow, chunky techno sets. Like that first record, this track has a sense of humour - constantly cutting in playful bits of vocal and drum detail. Both the title and the artwork imply an undue swagger - a sense of winging it through changeable unpredictable weather conditions: a combination that, for me, sums up the feel of this track as well as the circumstances in which it was made."

Quickly emerging Australian gem Zara (@zaraolsen) brings her signature warm, emotive & sparkling sounds to Animalia with a special five track EP and collaborative animation with Amsterdam based artist Tharim Cornelisse.   The EP combines the deepest intricacies of IDM & modern tempo-explorations, all with a cosy sense of groove & rhythm, resulting in an exciting yet tranquil balance of sounds. Zara’s atmospheric, world building music is an unambiguous reflection of not only her upbringing in lush Australian surrounds, but also Animalia’s kaleidoscopic world, and Zara’s own sense of adventure and worldliness.

We’re thrilled to introduce Kinesis from Melbourne, a new label from Zara that celebrates timeless soundscapes and diverse artistry. The debut release, Kinesiverse VA, arrives on December 10th in digital format.

Kinesis is rooted in a thoughtful appreciation of sound, spotlighting the work of female, non-binary, and gender non-conforming artists. This first release takes listeners on an intricate journey through calming, intimate compositions, blending traditional and sci-fi elements while weaving time loops that transport you between cultures and eras.

The track O28, a collaboration between Zara and Tadhg, exemplifies this ethos. It evolves with elegant patience, gently building into a reflective soundscape where boundaries dissolve. The flute draws you in with its warmth, while electronic layers evolve with grace and precision. The result? A deep sense of calm.

We can’t wait to hear more from Kinesis, a label where music flows freely across time and space. Enjoy the space it takes you to.

Eora’s dub-techno tastemaker Command D and Naarm’s harmoniser of the emotive and abstract Zara combine for Gravity Reset, a collaborative four-tracker on Butter Sessions.

Both producers are equally nestled with love into Australia’s underground, with releases on beloved labels like Animalia and Pure Space. Command D also boasts refined live sets heaving in sub-bass, while Zara's celebrated for boundary-blurring productions and her Kinesis imprint championing the local scene. On Gravity Reset, they meet in lockstep, delivering trance-inducing offerings rooted in a shared love of rhythm, space and subtlety seeded with dub minimalism and introspective, tech-driven sound design.The titular track 'Gravity Reset' sets the tone with a deep, persistent kick, reverberated snares, and a low-end that twists and lifts. 'Cascadia' introduces pad warmth and light percussion, where laughter weaves into the mix, adding a human touch to the dub-soaked cut. '2Pulse' brings expressive congas and dubby psychedelia into dialogue with the wubs, before The Fog closes in a haze of phasing hats and musky bass.

Amniote Editions resurfaces with the HbA capsule, a dual release pairing the debut album from Hasvat Informant and his Intellagama moniker with a 21-track digital compilation, that coils through ambient, IDM, experimental, techno, trance and beyond. 

Refraction of Light Vol. II gathers 21 artists linked by place yet divergent in expression, charting a fluid passage of moods, drifting from first light to nightfall. 

The compilation’s framing draws from its title: like light refracting on the horizon of a long drive, it bends shifting sounds and perspectives into a shared vision shaped by distance, connection, and the landscapes in between.

In the same way, Amniote Editions’ capsules provide fertile ground for music to evolve — nurturing divergent practices, experimental forms, and cross-genre encounters. Refraction of Light Vol. II extends this lineage, binding artists through place and possibility, and echoing so-called Australia’s role as a cradle of creative life within its worldwide snakeweb.

Conceived on the land of the Gadigal peoples of the Eora Nation, the project acknowledges the traditional custodians of this country, paying respect to elders past and present, and recognising that sovereignty was never ceded.

10% of profits from this compilation will be donated to Palestine Australia Relief and Action (PARA). PARA help Palestinian migrants and refugees live safe, happy, and fulfilling lives in Australia.

Mr. Mitch’s Gobstopper Records has long been one of those looked-to labels, giving a platform to UK club sounds that push the envelope. Its latest offering is from Otik, otherwise known as Ashley Thomas, who follows releases on DEXT, Keysound and Nous Disques with ‘Thousand Year Stare’, a four-tracked EP that taps into UK funky, techno and spacious atmospherics. Though now based in London, Otik’s style is informed by his background in Bristol, and there’s a thread of those shadowy bass sounds running throughout his productions. ‘Ghost Mole’, which we’re premiering below, takes a thudding kick drum and wraps a percolating synth line over the top, the result being something with an artful groove. Tune in now.
