In welchen musikalischen Stilrichtungen siehst du dich?
Das werde ich oft gefragt, und es fällt mir gar nicht so leicht, meine Genres genau zu definieren, da ich mich für viele verschiedene Musikrichtungen interessiere. Im Bereich der elektronischen Musik spiele ich jedoch immer einen psychedelisch-treibenden Stil, der sich genretechnisch zwischen Indie Dance, Dark Disco, düsterem Techno und Acid Techno bewegt. 

Wie bist du zu deinem DJ-Namen gekommen?
Hier muss ich gleich mal ein kleines Geheimnis lüften: Mein echter Name ist Phillip, nicht Simon. Der Name “Simon Phil.ter” entstand in meinem Freundeskreis, weil eine meiner besten Freundinnen lange Zeit dachte, ich heiße Simon und nicht Phil. Diese Verwechslung entwickelte sich dann zu einem Running Gag – und so wurde “Simon Phil.ter” geboren. Ich bin immer noch dankbar, dass der Name quasi “von selbst” entstanden ist, denn ich finde es nicht einfach, sich selbst einen Künstlernamen zu geben.

Wo willst du unbedingt mal spielen?
Es gibt unzählige Orte, an denen ich gerne mal spielen würde. Spontan fällt mir das Tarmac Festival ein, weil ich damit ganz viele besondere Erinnerungen und Momente verbinde.

Hast du ein absolutes Lieblingsset?
Eigentlich nicht. Meine musikalischen Vorlieben ändern sich oft, sind stimmungsabhängig und es fällt mir schwer, mich auf ein einziges Lieblingsset festzulegen. Es gibt einfach so viele großartige Sets und Künstler* innen da draußen.

Welche Artists haben dich inspiriert oder inspirieren dich noch immer?
Tales of Us und Anyma inspirieren mich immer wieder extrem. Ihre Kombination aus Atmosphäre und Epik in der Musik ist einfach unvergleichlich. Ein weiteres großes Vorbild ist für mich Bruce Dickinson, der Sänger von Iron Maiden. Es fasziniert mich, wie er auch in seinem Alter immer noch so vital und energiegeladen auf der Bühne performt.

Gibt es bestimmte Rituale oder Gewohnheiten, die du vor einem Auftritt hast, um dich vorzubereiten?
Ja, ich überprüfe immer vor jedem Auftritt, ob mein USB-Stick funktioniert, und sorge dafür, dass ein Joint bereitliegt.

Wenn du nur noch einen Track für den Rest deiner Karriere spielen könntest, welcher wäre es und warum?
Es wäre von Schleimkeim der Track „Mit dem Knüppel in der Hand“. Es ist ein großartiger Ohrwurm, und ich glaube, viele Menschen fühlen sich von diesem Song abgeholt.

Was machst du sonst gerne in deiner Freizeit?
In meiner Freizeit verbringe ich gerne Zeit mit meinen Katzen. Was ich sonst so mache, hängt von der Jahreszeit ab: Im Sommer bin ich oft im Park oder am See, während ich im Winter auch mal gerne die PlayStation einschalte.

Was ist dein Lieblingsessen?
DDR-Jägerschnitzel mit Feuerwehr-Tomatensauce und Makkaroni.

Was willst du der Welt noch mitteilen?
Wie wir alle wissen, leben wir in recht instabilen Zeiten. Umso wichtiger ist es, aufeinander zuzugehen, Brücken zu bauen und Mauern zu überwinden. Wir sollten uns alle gegen jede Form von Diskriminierung, Ausgrenzung oder toxischer Intoleranz einsetzen, um eine zukunftsfähige Gesellschaft zu schaffen.

Echoes of Dawn is a musical journey created without borders, driven purely by feeling and the desire to explore sound in any territory without aiming for a specific genre. It reflects a freedom in music creation, where each track was allowed to evolve naturally over time.

Balanced and Sunrise were both recorded live through spontaneous studio jams, experimenting with decay, filters, and modular synthesizer sounds. These tracks found their place in my sets, often used to balance the mood during late-night or after-hours moments. The entire album spans many years, with some tracks dating back to 2013, only reaching their final form recently.

This project represents more than just dancefloor moments. It’s a deep, personal expression of evenings and mornings spent crafting sound, whatever felt right in the moment. Lead to the Chords, Say It, Mindset, and 2Ms bring energy to the dancefloor, while tracks like Modular Mornings and Afternoon Jazz are designed for more introspective, home listening experiences.

I'm incredibly thankful to Marc Romboy for recognizing the depth and range of these tracks, compiling them into an album that tells a story I may not have released otherwise.
