The door of the plane flung open and its passengers began making their way down the stairs onto the hot tarmac. It was a world a way from the place they'd left; every inch of the sky was bright blue and the trees that surrounded the runway were all bursting with life. All she'd ever known was the cold and dark, just harsh winters and dreary summers, all colour and brightness squeezed out of everything. She squinted up at the sun, letting the warmth bathe her whole. This is what she'd been missing; for the first time she felt like she was really living.

Dublin-based producer and DJ Jamal Sul is on quite the roll recently. Under his moniker Moving Still he recently made his debut on Palms Trax's CWPT label with a collection of original cuts, and he's also responsible for a catalogue of top notch edits that breathe new life into old Arabic gems. His next project is for Amsterdam's Disco Arabesquo and Kuwaiti cassette label Al Nazaer, which sees him inaugurating a new 12" series of edits called 'Yallah Ya Ashab', with two fresh takes on 90s Kuwaiti songs: the first a flip of singer and actor Bashar Ali Sultan's 'Omrena' and the second a rework of a one hit wonder by a band called Firkit el Lotus.

The prolific Boyanza outfit kickstart ‘23 in amazing fashion with their “Girls With Guns” EP crafted by TAPIA. Classy spaced out sounds manoeuvring between the refined ends of the house and techno spectrum, with a splash of nostalgic disco vibe for good measure. The two originals are accompanied by a stellar remix from Alex Aguayo.
First up is “Acapulco Gold” featuring Badmoiselle & Vleks, a five minute trip moulded upon a distinct and sleek atmosphere, mysterious as it moves, but positive energy shines brightly through the cracks, as glistening synths and pads breathe life in to the chugging bass and crisp drum arrangements. Transcending you to the hazy hours of the night. Serving up their interpretation of the original is Alex Aguayo. The vocals flash in and out as feel good chords and melodies continue to develop as the track blossoms. Huge disco drums pulsating through the dance floor, ready to create moments as the track shines brightly within the storm of the night. Last but not least is title track “Girls With Guns”, a characteristic mood simmers from the get go, bubbling throughout maintaining a distinct drive which leaves the listener in a state of trance.
Tasteful sounds from an essential label of recent times, diving into the new year in the right way, showing they plan another year of integral releases from label regulars and faces of new.

Friedrich Raphael is a young DJ and producer from Berlin. He started producing his own music in 2015 and discovered his passion for DJ-ing in 2016. Since then, he had a stellar career in Berlin and abroad with many gigs and appearances in podcasts and performances.

Over the time, Friedrich Raphael adopted house and disco vibes and combined them with elements of funk, jazz, soul music. His signature is to use ‘crispy’ & 'crunchy’ analog & organic sound. His music goes more and more into a tropical direction and builds up a relaxed atmosphere in clubs like Griessmühle (Residency), RSO (Revier Südost), Aeden, Zenner, Plötze, About Blank and many more. He played also five times at the famous bathroom HÖR. In the club, Friedrich's motto is: 'Palm tree vibes everywhere!'
