This album is made up of 12 tracks, which they are a ode to German Krautrock produced in 2020. Exclusive: Ivan Fabra - Pluck (Gerd Janson Remix)

Running Back head honcho Gerd Janson took on remix duties for Barcelona-based artist Ivan Fabra's tune Pluck, which marks the debut for the Iberian on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label. With Gerd and Ivan joining the label 's latest release the Norwegian continues his imprint's international musical orientation yet remains true to its philosophy, namely that of delivering Disco-ish influenced tracks. Ivan  Fabra's four tracker comes altogether with two orginals, Pluck and Take A Break, and two remixes, one for each track. While Prins Thomas reworked Take A Break, Gerd Janson sprinkled his Running Back magic on Pluck and delivers a typical disco-esque magnific track that comes with a rather lush and forwad going bass line combined with right- and left channel alternating cosmic vocals that replace a tone in the higher frequencies and are then exchanged with a sound in the same tonal pitch. The disco-ish seeming synth-chords, partly consisting of single and multiple sequences not only add a change within the track but also keep the audience moving as it plucks or rather strikes the tune's musical diversity with ease.

Exclusive: Switchdance, Twofold - Entre Espadas

Pedro Martins and Marco Antão initiated Karakter Records' first label various artist EP with contributions from old friends and new musical companions. Of course, the label-honchos themselves contribute a track each, while Marco Antão alias Switchdance teamed up with Portuguese producer Twofold. The both are not only connected via their studio habits but foremost because they've shared DJ booths across the Portuguese capital over the years. With Entre Espadas the duo delivers a cosmic dark disco-ish track which has a clear handwriting and depicts the artists' preference of what music should sound like these days. Its mid-paced tempo in combination with continuously increasing synth-tones turn Entre Espadas, which means between swords, into a sharp blade of a track that smoothly cuts through the air of a dance floor to spread the best of the artists' both worlds in one track.

Karakter Vol. 1 will be released on August 24th, 2020.

Daniel Bortz has way more to tell than he has time to produce tracks – acting cautiosly and farsighted on the one hand, being loyal and worldy-wise on the other and in-between balancing himself out and laying a focus on something that could catch his attention in the first place. For his new album Stay, which will be out on Benjamin Fröhlich's and Tom Bioly's Permanent Vacation, the Augsburg-based artist emphasized on the emotional side of music from his teenage years, namely the 90's. Producing and putting together eleven tracks that are as diverse as Daniel is himself, Stay contains and plays with several (musical) influences from what the artist describes as a defining period of his life, as a person and as an artist. In his interview with Torture the Artist Bortz goes deep on this chapter of his life, his musical and technical approach to the album, perfumes and about not fitting in.

Daniel Bortz's album Stay will be released on Permanent Vacation on October 16th, 2020.

2020 will be a year that we will hardly forget. A year of reflection, introspection and sudden changes, many of them forced. How will we remember it after some time? We don't know yet, but the testimony for that future is being shaped today, as always, through artistic creation. 

This is the case of Fernanda Arrau, founder of the record label, United Colors of Rhythm. She has decided to baptize the fifth EP of her career and her label’s second release, as ‘Quiebre’ (breakdown in English). The EP was created a couple of years ago, almost entirely in the confinement of Madrid (one of the epicenters of the first European wave of Coronavirus) at the DJ and Chilean producer’s home.
