Nowadays, with an extensive catalog of more than 40 references Playground has a solid story to tell, always selecting an eclectic criterion and betting on diversity. Each launch reaffirms the commitment with an aesthetic freedom beyond any label.
The ‘9 Years Compilation’ faithfully expresses our history, but above all our present, always with an eye looking to the future. 15 new original tracks carefully chosen to create a polychromatic musical adventure, with diverse nuances and intensities. From downtempo songs to listen at home, through music inspired by the new wave, the creative force of the jungle, the power of organic elements and psychedelic experimentation to the most convincing music for the club.

Kicking off 2022, we are happy to announce the debut EP from italian producer & DJ Uabos. Known from his releases on Pordello A Parigi or Toytonics, Matteo Andrea Pepe (aka Uabos) delivers a stunning 3 track EP with the title „Soul On Soul“.
The EP starts impulsive, straight forward and with a catchy hook. ’Soul On Soul’ builds a bridge between Italo- Disco & modern Indie Dance. „It is a mystical trip between two lovers. It is the union of two souls, joined in a past life and now reunited. It is a circle that closes, Matteo claims.
Continuing with a travel back in time, ’M&P Frontier' is a mixture 90’s House & Rave, flavored with a splash of Euro Dance. Fittingly Uabos describes: The track goes back to my origins. It's journey throughout my life since I met electronic music... just in a new version.
Closing the EP with another top tune, that could easily also be the A-Side of this package, 'Illusion' sails mood wise in more happy waters. Though it might be less impulsive, it isn’t less catchy than the previous tunes. „Illusions are the specters that live in each of us. They are the distorted existences that we impose on ourselves. It is their frequency that makes us wake up and understand true reality.“, Uabos explains about the idea behind it.
'Illusion' is a trip between trance and Italo- Disco, another fresh tune to heat up the dance floor.

Since its debut release in 2017, Astrolead Recordings has established itself as “the place to be” for the aficionados of Space Music, Cosmic Disco, Synthwave, Retrowave, Cold Wave, and whatnot. Its curator and supreme boss, Ilya Santana (SXDNS072), has managed to keep the high standard of the label through top-notch self-releases and special guests & collaborators such as From Beyond (SXDNS Takeover 001), Beyond the Struttosphere (SXDNS263), Julian Sanza, Juan Soto, and Linda Axelsson, just to name a few.

Flying solo one more time, Ilya brings now “Fahrenheit 104”, a hot and boiling two-track EP filled with retro vibes and space dust, the result of the time he lived in Saturn… or Mars – we are not quite so sure. Jokes aside, Ilya takes the curation of his imprint very seriously, no wonder its releases follow a strict pattern when it comes to the sonority Ilya aims to deliver through his platform.

Premiered here, the title track follows such pattern to the letter: Starting with a fat bass line (seriously: what a bass!), followed by heavy doses of arpeggiated synth layers, guitar-like leads, and ethereal pads; Ilya proves, once again, he is one of the best in the game.

We are used to know Nothing Is Real records as a meeting point for different touches of electronic music, with an open mind on new sounds and a strong connection to the disco/indie roots at the same time.
NIR018 perfectly reflects this character: the EP is signed by the French Joe Lewandowski, an artist that came from rock music as a guitarist in various local Parisian bands, landed later on house and techno, acid and disco areas after he moved to New York.
What makes the main production “Naturale” pretty unique is the bpm slowdown, it makes for sure a great tension on the build up before the drop, so simple and so effective.
“Late at night” has a classic 707 drums groove with a shiny nervous and mystic voice on the top, served with a rolling bass that gives the track a perfect move.
On “Soft Machine” you can clearly notice the rock/indie background of Joe, slow tempo/hyper groove and a super catchy finger bass, arpeggios on top guide the flow during the track.
Last but not least, is “Naturale - Transcendentale Version” by the giant Danish producer Kasper Bjørke. He makes his debut on NIR with a hypnotic rework on the original from Lewandowski with a dreamy pad and his ultra recognizable drum groove.

Number 009 in Quixotical Records releases belongs to Silicodisco & DPAZ feature work “Infinity Roads”. This EP is a brilliant masterpiece of two original tracks and 3 very special remixes by one of the greatest women in the dark disco scene: Bonnie Spacey, Moderna, and Vongold.

As distant as it may seem, Moderna captures the magic of the original track and maintains it throughout, balancing the intended vision with the key characteristics solely intact. Take a moment to consider how bizarre, rotten, and oblivious the mood of this unrestricted experimentation changed and at the same time fused with the core aesthetics of this song. Ghoulish mannerism and powerful attitude are two driving forces that manage to stretch the imagination of the audience and resonate with them on a primal level.

Bonnie Spacey (@bonniespacey) lays a great promise from the very beginning of this fine remix. And this promise is that the destination is not the same. More excitement, less resemblance, and a considerable amount of free-roaming are instantly recognizable. Change of focus surely gave a different identity compared to the original. This remake can be considered more of a dance floor banger than it's predecessor, just because of the mood it spreads across the depths of the track. Not saying it's all cheerful and vibrant, but "dance dance disco" theme is more established and flourishing, there was no shortage of creative ways for Spacey to bring this version to a completely divergent plane.
