'Leitstrahl were raised on a strict diet of electronic music. Electro pop. Italo Disco. Synth movie scores. This was the bread and butter of this three man Austrian outfit. With more than fifteen years of band history, the trio of Stoff, Paul Raal and Boogaloo Steve are as proud as punch to announce their debut album: Chromium Dioxide. For their twelve tracks the triumvirate have pooled their enthusiasm and experience, calling on a string of friends to give their selection a unique energy and emotion. Jon Jon, aka John Foster, of Bronski Beat fame, offers his vocals for the rollercoaster ride of “Europa Supersaw.” Nicole Jaey’s mellifluous voice soars in the blazing “Chevrolée,” Christina Mirabilis lends her sweet lyrics for the fiery “Girotti” with Jimmy Baker voicing the pop heartbreak of “White Tail.” Synthlines sparkle across the collection, magical melodies pirouetting in a haze of deep Summer sun. Coursing through the entire album is passion, a passion crystallised in addictive hooks, laserdance rhythms and fledgling romance, a passion that combines Hi-NRG intensity with the reflection of wave and the optimism of italo. A new year means new musical horizons here at the Bordello. Curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. Hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. “Pedal To The Metal And Don’t Look Back” is a perfect introduction to Curses’ multifaceted sound. Beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. “Knife in Teeth” comes from a similarly shadowy lair. Dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict EBM parents. Terr takes on “Pedal To The Metal And Don’t Look Back” and does the original proud. Bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. Murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. The Bird of Paradise closes the EP with his psychedelic take on “Knife in Teeth.” Drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

Super Paolo continues to embody his reputation of building tracks from scratch whilst harmonising everything together using a collection of live instruments. Paolo founded his Disco Milk imprint in 2006 and with every release he continues to explore into the realms of disco, electro, house and funk brought together under one roof previously supported by the likes of The Black Madonna, Justin Cudmore, Jacques Renault, Eclair Fifi and more. ‘In Your Shadow’ sees Paolo invite a remix from Italy’s Andy Bros which picked up plays from Adam Port, Solomun and Blackbox and Jamie Jones on Pete Tong’s History of House episode on BBC Radio 1

‘In Your Shadow’ begins with zappy synth shoots, revolving electro flavours and infectious vocals keeping eccentric energy flowing until Andy Bros who has previous releases on Diynamic, Chapter 23, FFRR and more rounds off the pack with a chuggy, italo-disco remix of ‘In Your Shadow’ laying focus on cosmic oscillations, otherworldly atmospheres and uplifting, swirling melodies peppered with undulating euphoria.
