Metalheadz kicks off a very exciting 2014 with a new team of producers for the label. 

Firstly introducing Mako and DLR who are already starting work on their forthcoming combined Metalheadz album project, alongside we have the fledgling talents of Villem and the elder statesmen of the scene Ant TC1 who in his own right has had a hand in a fair share of memorable releases and himself heads up Dispatch Recordings and Metalheadz.

META015 is project that shows a great depth in the talents of the foursome, it’s a beauty and the beast affair, fantastically executed in the great tradition of Metalheadz.
Kicking off with ‘Hungry For Atmosphere’ this stepper is a perfect set opener, heartfelt strings and keys give way to contorted mids and FXs, whilst the familiar vocal is processed into something altogether more sinister. The track clocks at just over 7 minutes and this says everything of the tracks ambitions, not pandering to anything but its own journey.
Next to step into the ring is ‘A Certain Flavour’ the opposite but yet perfectly paired track to go with the A side. Beginning with a very cinematic introduction it unravels into a growling bass led stepper with staccato drums before switching into a two-step drum work out, tailor made for dancefloors and DJs alike.

A release that we are very happy to kick 2014 off with, welcome to the new breed!

Complete sonic bombardment of the senses, there is no mistaking Memtrix’s direction and focus for this prime-time piece of D&B naughtiness. And there’s no mistaking the raw power of Telekinesis’s remix, either… Igniting with piano-primed ‘lighters up’ intro, we’re soon pushed into the deepest end of the darkness pool with Youthstar’s spitfire delivery, a gut-busting halfstep groove and a murder of distorted bass tones. Flipping to full D&B tempo midway, it’s a strident party piece that will stay in your wallet or playlist from now until the 23rd century.  

Next up, ‘Dawn Of A Dark Day’: A blazing unity of UK grime and Euro neuro, the day Black Sun Empire called up the Foreign Beggars for mic-duties was a game-changing day for the entire bass industry. Naturally both remixes pay respect to the fusion and fire of the original. Prolix takes the original’s swaggering halfstep intro and adds a touch more menace on the low-end and an industrial punch to the beats before dropping into a rampant, rolling speaker-smasher. No face will be left unmelted when you drop this. We guarantee it. Meanwhile Receptor adds his own interpretation with an instant uptempo kickstart and the creative use of drama-drenched cinematic strings and devilish Slayer-level guitars.  

‘Killing The Light’ brings us to a fitting climax with two of drum & bass most distinctive, forward-thinking acts on remix duties. Delicately dressed with the heart-melting vocals of Inne Eysermans, the raw emotion makes ‘Killing The Light’ the closest thing to a ballad Black Sun Empire will ever write. Paying respect to this, Icicle sharpens the kicks and snares, weaves haunting pads into the mix and takes the vocal to the darkest place imaginable. For those looking for more of a laser-snapping edge, look no further than June Miller’s remix; bolstered with a gargantuan bassline and searing sonic flares, the Dutch-Anglo duo have taken the softness and depth of the original and subverted into a priceless peaktime banger that NO D&B DJ should be without this season.

Jade, one of the primary architects of the neurofunk sound, presents the latest release on his distinguished imprint Eatbrain;
Telekinesis – The Nightwalkers EP. Telekinesis - the highly praised Slovenian duo consisting of Smooth and Markoman - joins an already drool-worthy roster of neurofunk talent on Eatbrain, further solidifying the label’s reputation as a stalwart of quality drum and bass. And with names like Concord Dawn and MC Coppa in the equation, the 6th release on Eatbrain stands out as a must-own for any neurofunk head.

Nightwalkers EP kicks off with an dynamic collaboration between Telekinesis and Coppa, the Berlin-based MC who's collaborations with Prolix and Mindscape made enormous waves within the drum and bass scene in 2012. Telekinesis’s knack for atmosphere comes into full effect at the outset before Coppa's infectious rhymes take hold, winding things up into an irresistible drop. Still possessing the same raw ferocity that Telekinesis has become known for, 'Pocket Full Of Drops' takes their sound into playful territory. Combining their dirty signature bass, cleanly constructed drums, and Coppa's clever lyricism, 'Pocket Full of Drops' a true mood-lifter bound to crush any dancefloor it touches. Good vibes, plain and simple. 

Next up, New Zealand badboy Concord Dawn features on the EP's eponymous track, 'Nightwalkers.' Opening with an optimistic-sounding concoction of warm pads, a light drum break, and shimmering synth arpeggios, the melody soon takes a darker turn as the full-moon comes out and the dead begin to rise. By the time the tune drops, it's too late - you've already been bitten by Telekinesis and Concord Dawn's monstrous musical creation, and there is no hope for you. One thing is certain; 'Nightwalkers' is a hauntingly contagious track capable of turning an otherwise normal human into a mindless dancing abomination. Beware.

The EP's third track, 'Lich,' promises to slay crowds with its upbeat neurofunk vibes. Clean drums, spirited keys, and a dirty yet carefully polished bassline make this energetic roller a dangerous piece of ammunition. Nightwalkers EP wraps up with a truly fun yet complex exercise in future funk, 'She Wants To Skate'. A tune made purely for the dancefloor, 'She Wants To Skate' jumps right into things with tight, lively drums and an uplifting synth riff. Telekinesis's trademark bass warms itself up, before ripping into full swing at the drop, twisting and turning throughout the track amidst a catchy chopped up vocal. 'She Wants To Skate' is a particularly infectious joint, bound to get bodies moving and put smiles on faces.

One of the UK’s freshest new drum & bass talents drops his debut solo single on Critical, this one is simple mammoth! Emperor has been making waves over the past couple of years moonlighting with various camps but it was the keen ear of label boss Kasra that cottoned on early drawing him deep into the Critical ranks. If this new single is anything to go by, one of the best decisions Critical could have made.
The cinematic intro of ‘Begin’ is beautiful blend of strings, reversed fx and the sultry vocals of Georgia Yates who featured on the Enei album last year. All build to a haunting dropout before the next stage, an absolute nasty tech-stepping future roll-out that’s been getting Fabric in sweat these last few months. Twisted, uplifting and wonderfully emotive, this is another slice of Critical magic.
Next up and we’re treated to the vintage double-bass grooves of ‘She Said’. Another huge epic intro featuring a soaring vocal drifting over ethereal pads features here as hi-end percussion leads into the fattest bassline for a properly funked up dance floor workout. Think Roni Size ‘Brown Paper Bag’ or Peshay’s ‘Miles From Home’ for 2013...bad to the bone!

Jakub Šenšel aka Minor Rain started producing in 2009 From this year, actively involved in production, along with his friend as soundNbeats.
They have issued many labels like Breakfast Audio, Fokuz, Celsius, and more...
 In 2011 he created his own project called Minor Rain where he focuses on deeper styles and experimental electronic music.

I was always fascinated by music. when I was six parents have signed up for piano. I was an active him 6 years. Then I want to play on saxophone so I went for that. On sax I played for 2 years. Then I ended up with it and I stopped all my music activities. For a few years I have devoted to other things. But again I started to be interested for music. With my friend, we agreed that we´ll produce
music. We built a provisory studio in we constantly we looked for more and more technique. Quite quickly we got the first release. It was be point where we said "we can´t stop" and we haven´t stopped. We achieved a lot of labels. In 2011 I realized that I wanted to experiment and create tunes that I wanted to add more my feelings. But soundnbeats had two members, so everyone wanted something a little different. And so it occurred to me creating my own solo project
where I could fully develop.
