Talking Contest is the musical vehicle of Elaina Tardif (ex-Tender Age), Devin Welch (ex-Past Lives), Maggie Morris (Sunbathe) and Allan Wilson (ex-!!!). This Portland supergroup has crafted a unique blend of psychedelic experimental punk and droney cinematic soundscapes. Think Link Wray’s Rumble meets Sonic Youth’s Death Valley 69 on a sunbaked cassette mixtape.

Allan Wilson/Yolo Biafra came up in the musical hotbed of Sacramento's 90s punk scene. Charmed as much by disco, pop and hip-hop as by punk's noise attack, he and his friends formed seminal dance-punk machine !!! (chk chk chk). During his last years with the band, he stepped into the role of official afterparty DJ, playing in Australia, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and in cities and festivals all over the US. His mixes have been featured on Vice, Self-Titled Mag, and BBC Radio 1.
Allan currently lives in Portland, OR, where he djs disco, funk, hip hop, and house (when he’s allowed).  He bangs on shit for Talking Contest when he’s not out djing.

Portland, Oregon’s Rayon (formerly "Miss Rayon) is the creation of Detroit/Flint Michigan native, Eric Sabatino.
Residing somewhere on the spectrum between New York no wave and Manchester post-punk, one can hear influences as broad as Sonic Youth, Yoko Ono, ESG and Magazine.

Rayon released their debut full length record, Eclipse, November 2018 on Portland's XRAY Records.
A series of singles was released during the 2020 Covid-19 quarantine, and a second full-length record is in the works.
