Tangled Roots

This is the last song from my EP and by far my favorite song of the EP. I used a bunch of sound design techniques and samples to get that deep and encompassing soundscape. I tried to go for a more simplistic approach for this one and I feel like I can just get lost in the song each time I hear it. Let me know what y'all think.

A dark, cinematic dive into nightmare waters. Shadow in the Shallow blends heavy, synth-driven Dubstep with chilling samples from Jaws—dock creaks, shrieking seagulls, and the infamous call for a “bigger boat.” The track builds like a horror scene: a lone man watches from the dock as a monstrous shadow rises from the depths, pulling you into a tidal clash of sound and fear.

With an innate ability to craft rhythms spanning G-House, breaks, and beats, Mirage seamlessly weaves scratch routines into his bass music tracks, navigating the BPM spectrum from 87 to 175. In his latest exploration, Mirage immerses himself in the depths of 140bpm and Deep D&B, consistently pushing the boundaries.

Beyond the studio, Mirage is a community-builder in Victoria, B.C.'s music scene. The architect behind Dubversified Culture, he founded this underground community in 2017 with a mission to elevate local West Coast bass artists and forge connections across global Dubstep and House scenes. Mirage's dedication underscores his commitment to navigating the ever-evolving landscape of electronic music.
