Dissension Rising are bringing new things to the Rock scene in Ireland and further afield. Essentially a Rock Band who can play sleezy Rock with a Bluesy undertone which on occasion leans to Metal. They have a strong fan base in many countries and in 2015 may be coming to a venue near you.

Ryan "RVP" Van Poederooyen is a positive, ambitious and creative drummer from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He mainly owes his fame to being the drummer for Devin Townsend in the Devin Townsend Project (2009-Current) and the now defunct The Devin Townsend Band (2002-2006). Ryan play's drums for his newly formed metal band - Terror Syndrome (2007-Current), he also plays in another side-band called Ten Ways (2008-Current) a progressive rock band formed by former ex-Devin Townsend Band members Dave and Mike Young. Outside of the bands that Ryan plays for, he offers his services as a professional live or studio session drummer, clinician and teaches drums privately when time allows.

Ryan has done studio sessions for producers such as Brian Howes (Nickelback, Hinder, Puddle of Mud, Daughtry), Chad Kroeger (Nickelback), Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, The Tea Party, Josh Groban) among many more..... In the last 10 years, he has performed on many studio albums, to mention a few - Faber Drive (Universal Records) and their hit single 'Tongue Tied', Christofer Malmström's (Darkane) solo project named Non-Human Level (Listenable Records), and the progressive rock album Oniric Metal by Lalu (Lion Music) and last but not least RVP has played on seven Devin Townsend Records :

Terror Syndrome, the metal band Ryan created, consists of RVP on drums, Dave Padden (Annihilator) on Vocals, Dave Young (Devin Townsend Project) on Guitars and Mike Young (ex-Devin Townsend Band) on Bass Guitar. RVP released Terror Syndrome's debut album world-wide on July 10th, 2008. Ryan recorded the drums, wrote all the music, some lyrics and produced the record. Shaun Thingvold (Fear Factory, Strapping Young Lad) engineered the record. The album was recorded at the luxurious Armoury Studios in Vancouver, BC, Canada and was mixed by Devin Townsend at Greenhouse Studios. Terror Syndrome features an impressive list of collaborators, ranging from Devin Townsend, to Alex Skolnick (Testament), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle),Byron Stroud (SYL, Fear Factory, 3 Inches of Blood), Christofer Malmstrom (Darkane) and Grammy nominated Session Bass Player Michael Manring. Terror Syndrome's debut album has been released world wide through on-line distributors like iTunes, amazon MP3 and many more.

Currently RVP keeps himself busy 6 to 8 months of the year, rehearsing, playing live shows and recording albums with the Devin Townsend Project. They have toured non-stop, since the start of 2010, through tons of countries world-wide. Touring stops over the years include their home country of Canada to the U.S.A., Australia, New Zealand, South America, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Scandinavia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Russia and almost every country in Europe. The list of new territory for the DTP to tour gets bigger every year. The DTP have been on bills as a support act to bigger bands but they also continue to headline 1000-5000 seat venues world-wide, right up to big European Festivals.

Biography :
Formed in April 2007 in Dublin city, Ireland. Syphor continue to play their own brand of metal. Drawing from a mix of influences, including Black, Death, Thrash metal genres. 

Syphor have been very well received by critics and audiences alike, all over the European metal scene. Playing festivals and clubs in Europe the band has gone from strength to strength gaining fans worldwide and appearing in many publications including Metal Hammer (Ger), Mexico's Mutilador Magazine, as well as many online reviews for their first album"Stained Glass Blasphemy" which the band release in February 2011.

Throughout the album the band displays their wide range of influences, from the thrashy riffs and face-ripping guitar solos that are unleashed upon the listeners ears, to death metal styled guitar playing. The melodic and harmonised twin lead guitar solos such as those on War also bring to mind the melodic death metal influences in the band's music. All Our Might might be one of the most aggressive track on the album, with the band going all out crushing all that dares to defy. The psychedelic first guitar solo also provides a trippy moment for the listener

A puzzling record that will grow on you! For Death Thrash Maniacs! And that’s exactly what’s so puzzling about this band. Music. Though labeled as a Death Thrash Metal band, Syphor clearly don’t fit in any one genre easily. You’d think Malevolent Creation, Possessed or the likes, but you’d still be far away. The surprise, if I may write so, comes from the leads. As previously mentioned, while fundamentally the riffing and the rhythmic section deal with that Death Thrash vortex of violence emphasized by Golding’s unconventional vocals, the leads add a big dose of melody which is a bit unsettling in the very first listens of the record. Unsettling because they’re more the kind of stuff you expect from virtuoso guitarists like Hammett or Skolnick and they heavily contrast with the cruder aspect developed by the rest of Syphor's musicians.Nonetheless a very solid effort for a debut and since it’s self-released, I can only encourage you guys to contact the band to get your copy.

Musically I would say we're influenced by a lot of bands but your right especially by the likes of Death and also by thrash bands like Kreator, even though we never really noticed the Kreator reference but your not the first to mention Kreator so there must be a comparison somewhere. But other bands like Carcass and Massacre (Although you probably wouldn't hear it) are big influences on me personally and of course the classic bands like Slayer, Megadeth & Testament but really anything we're listening to. In the band we all listen to different genres within metal. Black metal, Thrash, Death metal and this has an effect on what we put into the band musically. That's why I think when you listen to Syphor you hear all different Styles in there because we all are different and bringing our own thing to the band

"Stained Glass Blasphemy" is a good first release. The talents of each member are showcased nicely and there are some great guitar riffs going on. Overall it's worth a few listens and should be given a fair chance in the metal community.

Syphor announced in August of 2012 that recording had begun on their Second studio album (Title TBC) and this album will be released early 2013 and will include the singles "Inferno" & "Evolution of Aggression". 

The band can be seen on the road at the "Skull Crusher" Metal Festival as well as the "Hell Inside" Festival both in Germany in October 2013.

For Ruin was formed in 2003 in Cork, Ireland. Founder John began playing a mixture of melodic black/death metal with strong harmonies, melodies and dynamics throughout. During 1998-2006, John recorded 3 demos (Split, Shade and Obsidian) and established an initial lineup of the band at the end of 2005, playing with Decapitated and many others at the time.

In November 2006 Murphy was joined by drummer Barry English, guitarist Drew Myers and bassist Barry OSullivan forming the second lineup of the band. The band filmed their performance at Winterfest 2006 in their home town of Cork on December 23rd '06. The result is the "Live at Winterfest" DVD, which was given a limited release in January 2007.

For Ruin announced the start of their relationship with Sentinel Records in January 07. The band finished their debut recording for Sentinel in May '07 titled "December" which was released on September 15th 2007 and supported by a headlining Irish tour during October 07. During August 07 the band returned to gigging, playing a warm-up show with Napalm Death before their tour in support of the album. In November '07 new bass player Peter Lawlor joined the band. FR played with Massacre and Extreme Noise Terror around this time and played main support to Primordial in December 07 & Jan 08. In Feb '08 the band welcomed back original drummer Steve O'Connell and having spent a few months rehearsing with Steve, the band played London for the first time; at the Camden Underworld in May 08 with Skyforger.

In Jan 09 the band recorded their second album - it was recorded in Mallow, Cork, Ireland with Alwyn Walker of Komodo Studios as the on-location producer. The album is currently being mixed. The band plays with Paradise Lost and Rotting Christ in Belfast on April 25th 2009. The new album should hopefully be out around this time under licence to Sentinel Records.

Reynolds displays a keen sense of melody and is wise enough not to pick from the British Goth metal tree as much as he should. Instead, he employs simple song constructs that are usually driving (“Another Collison”), slow and somber (“Creation’s Tears,” which features Cradle of Filth’s Sarah Jezebel Deva) and radio-friendly (“Parody Paradigm”). It’s morose and more morose, but not that kind of morose. There’s some sunlight. And it’s accessible. Accessibly morose. Methods To End It All is a winner across the board.

Don’t count Creation’s Tears into the clone department. Beautiful melodic gothic rock/metal. Creation’s Tears’ Methods To End It All is a very good opinion on how gothic rock/metal should be played, with emotion, melody and desired amounts of heaviness. “Methods to End it All” is a superb debut from Creation’s Tears, and it definitely warrants a listen from any metal fan out there. With “Methods to End it All”, Creation’s Tears has put together both a Prog and Gothic Metal based album. The musicianship on this album is one thing, which no matter what mood I’m in, is enjoyable throughout. Brian Eddie Reynolds does a spectacular job with the guitars all throughout the album, especially in “I Fail.” One thing that I like about “Methods to End it All” is that it never gets boring. It shows that Creation’s Tears has a lot of talent and originality.
