Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, the home of many legendary music heavyweights, Mason formerly Myster Mason is as intense as anyone could be. This strength of character and no nonsense approach to life is the fuel to Mason’s powerful production style. Since the late 90’s Mason has been an integral part of the Philadelphia music scene and a pioneer in the expansion and movement of American Drum & Bass. Mason exploded into the international arena in 2003 with his signing of ‘Ruff, Rugged and Raw ft. Armanni Reign’ to Dylan’s Freak Recordings. From there, the offers and tunes just kept coming. With releases on Hardware, Barcode, Intasound, East Side, Penetration and many more, Mason was now a household name in the Drum & Bass community. 

Mason’s music has led him to play most of the major parties and festivals in the world including Starscape, Whistle, Therapy Sessions (UK), the infamous Dachstock in Berne, Switzeland and legendary Herbal in London. He has been labeled the “mixtape king” by his partner Dstar. His focus and attention to detail he displays in his mixes have built up a cult like following. There’s been a countless number of times he has heard from fans that someone stole their mix tape or CD. His original production has been played by the likes of Andy C, Goldie, Dieselboy, Klute, Bailey, Dylan, Evol Intent and countless others. He has also been featured on the cover and inside of many magazines including Rinse, URB, Knowledge, XLR8R, ATM and Mixmag. 

Mason, alongside Dstar, runs two record labels including the D&B staple Gasm Recordings and their new bass music influenced label, P5 Records. Fans of drum & bass and even bass music in general can be assured that Mason has everything it takes to be one of the most exciting acts in dance music today. Years of experience in crafting and honing his dj and production skills and knowing how to read a crowd have led Mason to the forefront of the music scene.

Lark VS. Owl is one that is a definite and welcomed departure from the all that is being put out for music lovers to hear. They have implemented an unusual style and approach to making music that works perfectly for the band and more so for anyone that listens to them. They play a variety of instruments to make the band sound complete. Even though they share the duties of vocals it is when they combine both voices on some of the tracks that their richness and quality of sound can best be heard.

Lark VS. Owl has definitely lived up to their name,  some songs being more lighthearted and almost humorous pop and the others that are dark haunting and brooding down tempo sounds that are a pleasure to hear. This is a band to watch and really listen to in order to completely enjoy the artistry placed on an album by this talented trio.
