DJ Miss Elaine Eos festival and domeland sets

This playlist lines up the first three sets of The Great Beyond 2025, just as they came to be.  The Headspace Collective core organizers were Neil Fox, Elaine Avery, Brandi Rasmussen and Shan Crabtree. The Collective also included 60+ djs, producers and visual artists who helped produce stages at mid-west US electronic music festivals from 2016-2025.  The Headspace Collective produced the chill stage at The Great Beyond in 2021 and 2022. Kajunga then held the reigns for a couple years.  The Great Beyond continues with People's Sound running the chill spot. A truly unique mid-west techno experience, these sets set the tone for an adventurous weekend. Enjoy!

The Headspace Collective at The Great Beyond 2025

This is Miss Elaine Eos set from the stage she ran with the Headspace Collective at The Great Beyond festival in Minnesota 2021. Before the Delta COVID Variant was a "thing" in Minnesota we slipped in this outdoor event in late July 2021. Originally planned for July 4 weekend 2020, The Great Beyond took a whole new meaning in 2021 after the pandemic had taken hold on the globe. THC had been doing outdoor events since the post-uprising days of Minneapolis in June 2020, after George Floyd's murder. We knew we still needed to gather outside to dance together, and started with bringing people together to collect supplies and re-distribute them to the community.
Aug. 1, 2021, at the festival, Elaine played this set at prime time opposite the headliner on the mainstage, Regis, and just after a kick-ass performance from AutoClub in the Dome.

This mix is her signature "miscellaneous" style that weaves together jazzy, soulful and funky tunes with hip-hop and dance music classics and even some new tracks too.  A member of The Headspace Collective, Elaine was the production manager and lead sound tech for this side stage. 
Thanks to Intellephunk and Enemy Records for having us! An absolutely (inter)stellar party all around.

Miss Elaine Eos Jazz/House fusion set at Domeland at The Great Beyond 2022

Was such a pleasure playing this (relatively) chill set at The Great Beyond, July 29, 2023.  My first time playing during the day felt different and we did not run the stage this year so we were booked in a 4 hour block Saturday called "The Headspace Collective". We split it evenly- Neil played first, Brandi next and then me. They did a great job of keeping it chill. I, as usual, couldn't keep it slow but worked it up for the perfect set up to JayceeLives playing disco, boogie and house.

A trip through the Great Beyond in 2025.  When I stepped through the mirror I had arrived in another universe.  I was Beyond the Great Beyonding and I had foreseen the music that would be played in that world before it was played.  

This set was recorded on a Push 2, Abelton, Pioneer DJM 850, some microphones , iPhone recordings, lots of effects processing, tons of drum machines and racks... and then I cut up the original recordings of the tracks and then added more drum machines and chopped it up again to be able to record this live on the sessions screen.

It was my hope to be able to play it this well at the festival but equipment malfunctions and a bright sun forced me to play on a laptop with a mouse.  (It was a rookie mistake) The mouse wasn't the issue, the humidity was.  It kept making the mouse stick and not being able to see a screen I think I did pretty good with what I had to work with.  That will be released as soon as I get the recording to use as a comparison with this studio recording.  

So leaving a hot festival and fleeing before the rain blew in I left the beyond in a weird state of mind.  I was sad because this was the last show I would play with The Headspace collective.  I was also happy because I had accomplished a lot with the group when it was formed 9 years ago.   

The years went so fast and I learned so much in production.  I am happy with the knowledge that I have gained and the ability to create in the Lab of what I had in mind for sound when The Headspace Collective formed so many years ago. 

I accomplished my dream to play live at a music festival. But not just any music festival,  I opened the Great Beyond with Neil and Elaine and Shannon and created a sound ritual and a prayer that we can all heal ourselves and be free.  

I guess that's what The Great Beyond means to me... The freedom to be the person I am without judgement.

the_headspace_collective was honored whisk up roux to thicken the vibe sauce of the weekend to kick things off. First played Neil, then me, & Medicinall. Giant thank yous to every cog in the machine, which appeared to be well oiled in year 5. Props to peoplessoundmpls for taking the reigns & running w/ it.  My opening track talks about conducting the cosmos.

The very last track is really his first track.  This is what happens when you spend 25 years learning to dj and run radio stations and you get to run a stage with your soulmate and all your friends for 96 hours on the radio.  In the middle of Wisconsin, USA in August. AND it doesn't rain.  Somehow that stage becomes a space ship and you get the 12 am Sunday slot to play during prime time and you blast off into dance music.
