Unconscious Ft Carnuntum - On Not Being

Chris Scates is from Houston, Texas, but now resides in the Washington, D.C. area of the United States. Before the Vireasach project, Chris was the creator of Audio Spectro, which birthed five singles, four EPs, one LP, tracks featured on six compilations, produced six remixed tracks for three different producers, and two collaborative tracks as part of Gruvstation Record’s FuseFreqs.

Vireasach (“Viral” in Irish Gaelic) is a new project that draws inspiration from Metal, Industrial, and EBM.  Their first EP, It’s a Corrupt World After All, draws inspiration from two years of frustration with the Covid 19 pandemic and world governments’ resulting authoritarian abuse of power.  It’s a Corrupt World After All merges Thrash Metal-style guitar riffs with Industrial and Acid Techno synths and beats to formulate a balance of raw, driving power.

It started in as an idea for 45 minutes live act filled with fast live mangled breakcore beats with strange, melancholic but friendly melodies. As I practiced and performed it on few occasions, I started adding more tracks to the 45 minutes core of the performance. As usually, I wanted to explore ideas I never touched before, but strangely, the more I went out of my comfort zone, the more I liked it.  the First ideas where put together in December 2024 and in February 2025 the first 5 tracks were ready for live performance. The 2nd part was ready in July 2025. It took few months more to make adjustments and retakes. The final result is a concept album... I would never do.
