Als de zon achter de wolken kruipt, wikkelt ze een warm deken om je heen. Karen weet je als 20-something singersongwriter stevig te omarmen met haar zwoel en zachtaardig gezang, vederlicht pianogetokkel en wollige akkoorden. Ze graaft diep om dan hoog te vliegen, maar belandt steeds met de voetjes op de grond. Ze kleurt daarbij binnen en buiten de lijntjes van de klassieke muziek, jazz, pop en soul.

Empire of the Sun, the visionary Australian electronic duo comprising Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore, have been making waves across the world with phenomenal live shows and anthemic smash hits for the last decade as one of Australia’s most successful musical exports.

This Texas bred, Husband/Wife Acoustic Duo originally formed in Berlin, Germany in 2008 and are now located in Texas. The band is made up of founder J. Spencer Portillo (vocals / acoustic guitar) and Caroline Rippy Portillo (vocals / bass guitar). 

Caroline was born in San Antonio, Texas. From 2007 until 2012, she played bass guitar for Tito & Tarantula. J. Spencer Portillo was born in Los Angeles, California but was raised in Texas.  

The band has a distinctive sound that has been described as dark, romantic, ethereal, and haunting. "Niños Del Sol" features Rafael Gayol (Leonard Cohen), Steven Hufsteter (The Quick | Tito and Tarantula | Del Shannon), Jay Reynolds (Asleep at the Wheel), Mitch Hertz (Bloody Kids), Raiye Rippy and Jake Garcia (The Black Angels).

In devoted care of lost nuances and timbres Jean Yves Pastis embraces the colorful existence of boundless grooves and shimmering low ends. Dreamily, rhythms pulsate in harmony of organic forms and synthetic sequences.
