Who says jazz is dead? This unique form of musical expression is like the 'buddhism of music' - it is elastic, reactionary, inclusionary, in the moment, and requires tremendous dedication and training.

Take this quote by Charlie Parker for example... "You've got to learn your instrument. Then, you practice, practice, practice. And then, when you finally get up there on the bandstand, forget all that and just wail."

It is indeed one of the greatest challenges in our modern society to develop a unique voice in this idiom, and those who have done so are immensely capable people.

There are no lies in jazz, it is impossible to fake. Those who have mastered it are the true healers in this world. People are constantly inundated with communication of the brain, but what people really need and desire is communication from the heart.

Singer-songwriter Tomi Swick is a Hamilton native who was recognized for his debut album "Stalled out in the Doorway" in 2007 by winning the juno for best new artist and a nomination for pop record of the year as well as 2 Canadian radio music awards, the Socan A/C songwriting award and multiple Hamilton music awards.  

A Warner/Chappell Publishing recording artist, Tomi spent four months in London England where he recorded his second album with top British producer Chris Potter of Verve / Richard Ashcroft Acclaim as well as many others.  This self titled record " Tomi Swick" was released on Warner Music Canada in 2012. Tomi has written, toured and played with many great bands and artists such as Julian Lennon, The Barenaked Ladies, The Goo Goo Dolls, Stabilo, Collective Soul, Tom Cochrane, Tom Wilson, Sam Roberts, Big Wreck, Feist , Jeremy Fisher, Blue Rodeo, Ron Sexsmith etc.... A record in collaboration with Slaight Music titled “ The Yukon Motel” was released 2016 to great reviews and a spot on the polaris prize long list. more music is coming …

Clear Stone, began with the musical collaboration of the brothers Tadin. The southern Ontario based band is fronted by singer songwriter Dio Tadin, whose voice "reminds me of their (Clear Stone's) musical influences, namely John Lennon and Tom Petty" says Canadian Blog House. With his brother Dimitri Tadin on Bass,  the two brothers developed a core sound that projects throughout their music. According to Indie Music Album Reviews, "You get an immediate sense that the guys from Clear Stone are feeding off of each others energy." 

With the release of their first EP, Broken Words (2004), Clear Stone jumped into the local area music scene, drawing crowds to top Toronto venues including Lee's Palace and the Horseshoe. Over the course of the following year, new song ideas began to develop. It was time get back to the studio.

Drawn by a growing arts community, the brothers relocated to Hamilton and began work on their first, full length album. Shortly after the big move, Dio was diagnosed with a brain tumor.   Everything came to a full stop. The brothers shifted from pursuing their dreams to survival. The music gave way, until Dio was able to fully recover. 

In 2008, the brothers met drummer Tone Valcic; they began the task of picking up and starting over.  A second recording effort was attempted, however, the project was later abandoned and never released. Realizing that somewhere in the search for the right direction, the soul of their songs had gotten trampled and obscured; all in pursuit of an elusive and ultimately misguided would-be-perfectionism. Says Dio of the experience,"Sometimes it takes losing everything and hitting rock bottom to discover, on an intrinsic level, what it's really all about." 

In the spring of 2011, opportunity knocked and the brothers were introduced to guitarist, Andrew Aldridge.  With Andrew now on board, Dio, Dimitri and Tone decided to start from scratch.  They went back to the basics, just the four of them: no producers, no engineers, no outside help.  Recorded over a one year period, the album, Suppose to Be, represents “the moment” captured in music.  Michael Jack, noted Canadian Record Producer and Recording engineer, had this to say of Clear Stone's most recent album," "Supposed To Be" is the type of recording that the likes of John Lennon would have been proud to release."

In an effort to fully promote their upcoming album, The band has played over 50 live shows in 2013 throughout Southern Ontario as well as a mini-tour of North Florida. With the album set to release May 2014, Clear Stone's is currently rounded out by Andrew Aldridge on guitar, Tristan Tadin on keyboards and Joel Anderson on drums.

Gritty alt-country rock band steeped in Tom Petty, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow & Wilco

Matty Simpson is a world class guitar player and singer-songwriter based out of Hamilton, Ontario. His style has been called an eclectic mix of rock and rhythm and blues. From an early age, Matty has had an appreciation for good music. He grew up listening to artists such as Nirvana, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Kate Bush and many other diverse musicians. Always being surrounded by music has had a profound impact on his current songwriting style which is a mixture of the 60s/70s/90s and modern music. 
Over Matty's career, he has fine tuned his guitar playing and musicianship. His ability to come up with original compositions and guitar licks that tastefully fit into any tune are an illustration of his musical expertise. To hear Matty's songs is to appreciate what a dedicated singer songwriter he has become. His songs are a testament to the years of devotion to the craft yet their message remains relative to all of his listeners. His singing and vocal styles have been compared to musical greats such as Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder.
