 a. I'm Pere Canovas from Mallorca, I love making music and creating sounds using the computer.

q. is there a story behind the mix? how did it come together? 
a. It's an expression of my subconscious, I was just trying to make something I would like to listen to.

q. in your opinion, what would be the ideal circumstances to enjoy your mix? 
a. maybe while cooking, that's how I usually listen to music.

q. describe a favorite object in your living room... 
a. my incense burner bowl

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
 a. I'm finishing my next album for Modern Obscure Music, and also going to organize music gigs with some collectives like 'Noskyline' or 'Circulo Sonoro' in Barcelona and the Balearic islands.

The very first Keinemusik radio show this year has been selected and mixed by Curses. Curses is a Berlin-based producer, a live performer and a DJ, the New Yorker released on underground labels such as Bordello A Parigi, Throne of Blood, Ombra INTL. Relish. The long awaited debut album came out on Jennifer Cardini’s Dischi Autunno label. Expect a darker side of disco, electro with flashes of EBM, New Wave and synth vibes.

Promising everything from tripped-out trance and jungle experiments to left-of-centre rhythms, Brothers From Different Mothers is a label we're constantly keeping tabs on. For that we have Marseille-based DJ Judaah to thank. Thanks Judaah!

Since kicking off BFDM in 2014 he's built a close family of friends (who also happen to be very sick producers) around him - the likes of jZBEL, The Pilotwings, OKO DJ and Simo Cell to name but a few. This year will see him focus on Home Soundystem, the little sister label of BFDM that he started towards the end of 2019, which has already put out releases from L.I.E.S label mate Krikor and UK producer Josi Devil. 

Making sure he eases you in with that meat and veg before hitting you slap bang in the face with that spicy harissa sauce, Judaah moves through the motions from ambient and dub to ghetto tech and dancehall...

Her head seemed to clear almost instantly, the soft gentle breeze drifting over her face helping to reset her thoughts. She allowed herself to dwell for a moment on the previous life she'd led in the thralls of the city; never giving herself a moments rest or granting herself the gift of a social life. Out by the sea things were simpler and happier...

Dallas-based producer Jake Shrock continues his obsession with analog hardware on his new release for Seattle's Medical Records. Following his work as part of //TENSE// and a previous release on S U R V I V E’s Holodeck label, Jake crafts seven tracks that blur the lines between komische, new age and wave, realised with his arsenal of vintage synthesisers and drum machines.

Music is My Sanctuary is proud to present the premiere of “Just Around The Corner” by Awkward Corners. Featuring Sarathy Korwar on tabla, this is the lead single from forthcoming LP “Dislocation Songs” on London-based label Shapes of Rhythm, 

"Just Around The Corner" is an expanding and seductive excursion. A deep percussive groove with Sarathy Korwar’s tablas moving in and out of focus. A single repetitive tone hypnotises throughout, transporting the listener into less troubled worlds, whilst the sweet sounds of the shahi baaja wash over. 

The album originally started as a reaction to the UK post-Brexit vote and move towards isolation, but it also feels hugely relevant right now in the uncertain times we currently find ourselves in.   
 
Awkward Corners is Chris Menist, a musician, DJ and writer. It started life as a small project in Islamabad, where Chris was living at the time. Initial recordings were made with local musicians in Pakistan and then subsequently in Thailand. This culminated in the Sweet Decay LP that came out on Finders Keepers’ Disposable Music in 2014, and in turn led to a limited tape release on Boomkat/Reel Torque of original compositions and re-edits of Thai 45s the same year.

Playing drums and percussion since he was a kid, Chris is the percussionist for The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. As well as co-founding record label Paradise Bangkok (and hosting a monthly NTS Radio show of the same name) Chris has curated compilations for labels such as Finders Keepers, Soundway and Dust-To-Digital. He has been featured on the Boiler Room, Vinyl Factory Collections, played at the Four Tet curated Nuits Sonores festival, and recently put together an edition of Volumes which featured unreleased Awkward Corners compositions.

Personal experiences, uplifting hopes, meditative fantasies and harsh realities are all carried in the third Amulet by Anasisana. A visual artist as well as a musician under several different aliases (Buried Alive, Nonchalant, Perfect Stranger), the Tunisian creator blends emotional slowcore songs, hypnotizing melodies and more abrasive experimental rhythms to breathe new air into the accustomed field of ambient music. His most recent release, a cassette titled "Perfect Stranger", was released by Trust Collective in September of 2020. In the work of Anasisana, thoughtfulness and subtlety shine a bright, yet melancholic light.
