Mitch Oliver presents: The Aurora Series

I’m happy to present to you Evolution, the second episode of the Aurora series, which was recorded where I’ve been living for the past 10 years. Montréal has a very special place in my heart as it’s where my music career has started. It’s also where I’ve evolved from an accountant to a DJ / producer, following my true passion. This episode was recorded in that transitional hour from day to night, as a way to have continuity with the first installments. It allowed me to play a deeper and darker sound, one that has been my go-to when I first started djing, and one that stays relevant through time. I hope you’ll enjoy this homage to this city I call home.

I’m happy to present to you Transcendence, the third episode of the Aurora series, which was filmed at the top of Mount Sutton. I have an extremely close relationship with this mountain, having spent all of my winter weekends as a youth skiing the slopes, joining the ski club as a racer and later as a coach. It is a terrain and experience that has greatly inspired my musical productions. To me, mountains evoke something that is bigger than us, spiritually or physically and my music selection for this episode tried to reflect that transcendence. I hope my homage to this special place will resonate with you and make you fall in love with this place as much as I do.

I’m happy to present to you Passage, the fourth episode of the Aurora series, which was filmed at Domaine de l’Île Au Canot. The island is part of the Isle-aux-Grues Archipelago situated in the middle of the St-Lawrence Seaway. I’ve been visiting this mystical place with my family at every transitional season as a way to unwind and remind ourselves just how important it is to be more in tune with nature and the impact we have on it. The speed at which the weather can change around there and how quickly its habitat responds, deeply inspires my djing philosophy: the crowd is my weather, and I’m like the habitat, I constantly adapt. I hope you’ll enjoy this audio-visual journey and that we’ll see each other soon on the dancefloor, once this odd period of time will be passed us. After all, music cannot exist without being shared through human connection

Mitch Oliver: Aurora Series Part IV - Passage

The Aurora series is a very special project for me. It is a journey through time, which merges my past and present. The 4 part video series showcases performances in locations that are dear to my heart and that have shaped me as a human being and as an artist. Each location represents a different facet of my life and has heavily inspired my music direction. Today, I present you Origins, the audio recording of the first episode of the series, which was recorded/filmed where I grew up and where my parents still reside to this day. As this is the first edition, it was important for me to pick the location where everything started, where my roots are. Since I feel so grounded and comfortable when I set foot there, I decided to play a set exclusively containing my own productions, which is a first for me, so it’s extremely special to share it with you today.
