It’s been eleven years since Richardson packed up his technology, decks and record boxes and flew north from South Africa to begin the next exciting chapter in his multi-media entertainment life. As a man of clearly many talents, music has led Richardson down a path rutted with a plethora of opportunities – all of which he has embraced and grown with. Most recently, and after a four-year radio silence down south, South Africa once again got to celebrate Derek ”TheBandit’s” virtual return to local radio when he signed up to present a weekly show, every Saturday from 6pm, on Mix 93.8FM (www.mixfm.co.za).

A true digital native, “TheBandit” has also been producing critical, cutting-edge, podcasts since 2006. With a library, hosted at his music website, www.soundrepublic.co.za, extending beyond 100 editions and continues to attract 10 000 listeners new listeners a month. 

When Richardson’s not in front of a few thousand screaming dance fans, or presenting either of his radio shows, he can be found reshaping the way new applies to business. As head of social media at www.Derek-Richardson.com he advises companies on their social media strategies, or helping them build relevant, new, engaging ones. With close on 20 years of real-time qualification, Richardson coaches and manipulates new media platforms that include global, digital and corporate realities. “I aim to edify businesses on how to have a conversation with their customers within the social media realm,” he explains. “My goal is to educate you and apply relevant technology tools into the very DNA that is of your overall communication strategy.”
