Before the release of his next album, ‘Twentytwo 22’ in April 2018, March will see Budapest based artist Mïus treat us to a new single, complete with standout remixes by Vessels and Brandt Brauer Frick. It comes on the Théque label Mïus has cofounded with filmmaker Annamaria Ligosztajeva.

Mïus is a solo music project by Gergely Álmos, an artist who has put out three albums, most recently on Sonar Kollektiv in 2016. He is a talented musician and live performer who has played all over the world at festivals such as Electronic Beats Festival as well as supporting the likes of Lamb. Always mixing up electronic sounds and acoustic instruments with found sounds, his work is expressive and artistic in equal measure.

The mesmeric lead single from the album is ‘Torso’, four broody minutes of well sculpted synths and rubbery, gloopy kicks. When the drums explode to life the track rocks back and forth on its heels as heavenly chords raise you up into the skies. Fullof peaks and toughs to keep you on your toes, it is a truly spine-tingling track.

First to remix are British indie electronic band Vessels, who mix up the styles of Burial and Four Tet with the likes of Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Their complex version re-works the original into a majestically melodic and trance including cut awash with rippling keys, silky synth lines and feathery light percussion. It’s an intensely emotive piece that builds throughout.

Berlin based outfit Brandt Brauer Frick then step up as champions of what they call “emotional body music”. Applying the know-how which has seen them collaborate with everyone from Nina Kraviz to Jamie Lidell, they flip the original into a deep, dubbed out and cavernous dancefloor track. Warm chords join the mix and the drums grow restless, with ethereal vocal sounds drifting up top to complete this most compelling cut.

This is a fine taster of what to expect from the much anticipated new album by Mïus.

'Higher' is the second single taken from Hungarian artist Mïus's upcoming long-player, ‘How To.’ Gergely Álmos is a prolific producer with a wide range of styles in his arsenal. He has showcased them with his mesmeric live shows all over the world as well as on his own Théque label. Across previous full-lengths such as Lost Adam in late 2017, Eigengrau in 2016 on Sonar Kollektiv, Twenty-two 22 in 2018 and Études de Battement in 2020, Álmos has explored a variety of musical themes. The new album is a Hungarian-Polish collaboration between Gergely and singer Raf Skowroński, who also features on this single.

Hungarian Gergely Álmos has proved himself a master of mature musical themes across previous albums, including releases for Sonar Kollektiv and his ‘Twenty-two 22’ LP in 2018 and ‘Études de Battement’ in 2020 on his Theque label. He has received support from BBC Radio 6 Music and played audio-visual festivals across London, Berlin, Prague and Rome. The new album is a collaboration with Polish singer Raf Skowroński, made over a year, where they invited musicians to join recordings in Katowice, Budapest and Szeged. 'Moving On' is an epic symphony of sound with crashing drums, spraying synths and a dramatic crescendo that leaves you breathless.

We premiere new music from mïus as he presents his newest single, ‘Last Time Ft. Raf Skowroński’, on Budapest based imprint Théque Records. ‘Last Time’ is a deep and smokey trip through quivering synth lines and melancholic vocals, specifically designed for big rooms.

Exploratory Electronic musician mïus announces unleashes his latest single, ‘Last Time Ft. Raf Skowroński’, from his forthcoming album Abstrakt on Théque Records. The track follows his previously released singles ‘Feather’ and ‘Slow Burn’ ft. HALOSARA‘.

Four those of you who are not acquainted with Gergely Álmos better known as mïus, he is a Budapest based based electronic musician that works in the melodic and dreamy corners of dance music production. Defined as a multi-art project wherein the different fields of self-expression meet each other, mïus will be showcasing his audio-visual show titled naked waves on tour later this year at select venues in Prague, Rome, and more to be announced.

‘Last Time’ is an introspective take on euphonious long-stretched synth lines and fluttering drum hits, exploring the deeper meanings of electronic sounds associated with love and nature. He toes the edge of the topic with palpable melancholy, adding another dimension to the track’s compositional depth.

Vocalist Raf Skowroński says: “Last Time is a song about deep and strong connection with other human beings. It’s about people who we often love but take for granted. Relationships that don’t last forever even though, in the moment, they feel like they do.”

'Audiovisual artist mïus will be releasing his new, full-length album, Abstrakt, on digital platforms and vinyl on the 2nd of June via Théque Records. On the project, fans will discover the modulating song ‘Clappp’, a mercurial lifeform that awakens with each pulse of the kick. The song appears beside the already released singles ‘Last Time Ft. Raf Skowroński’, ‘Feather ft. Amme’, and ‘Slow Burn’ ft. HALOSARA. Further, mïus and Attaray Visual will be showcasing their audio-visual show naked waves later this year.

Gergely Álmos is an architect in civil life and also works in movies as a set designer, which describes why he always pays attention to every small detail from songs to videos as everything is part of his self-expression and a result of a mature conception. Touching on aspects of Jamie xx, Jon Hopkins, Ben Böhmer, and even Moderat, ‘Clappp’ is a fitting title for a track bursting with echoing and expansive synths, unrelenting oscillations, and, most importantly, ricochetting claps that drive its energy to soaring heights. mïus elaborates on the LP’s central theme: “The main concept of the album was to use multiple samples and found sounds, fused with recorded analog synths, to create a new, singular analog-digital synth sound. Thus, we get abstractions from these sounds in a completely new, interesting synthesizer sound design. The title refers to this method.”'
