Since it originally lived on a private ftp site of mine and I think a mixcloud page for ATL Dubstep, this gem of a mix was currently mia. We have been looking forward to this one for a long time!

Michael Walsh sent us some seriously beautiful beats and we couldn't be more excited to share Part One of his Mix-Ins mix (look out for Part Two soon). 

Michael has long been on our radar for his impeccable musical tastes and talents.  Since his earlier days in Boston working for Satellite Records, writing record reviews for Turntable Lab as well holding the role of Content Director for Dubspot,  we've always known that Michael would continue to do big things.  You can currently find him writing and doing photography for Ableton & other sites and if you're lucky you can catch him playing music in various venues around the world.  Admittedly Michael loves playing smaller and intimate gatherings where the music feels most special and we couldn't agree more.  We are thrilled to showcase his talents here.

Here's what Michael had to say about this Mix-Ins mix.....
"This mix for Monthly Mix-Ins was a departure from my usual DJ style. It’s been raining in California for three months and I didn’t realize until putting this mix together that I’ve been buying a lot of deep and somber tracks to weather the storm. These songs linger along a tangent of sound best heard alone in headphones in the morning rain. I used a combination of mixing records, CDs, wav files to create this journey."

No crate is left undug as he works his way through recent Nu-Funk remixes of Duck Sauce's Barbara Streisand, Vintage Psych Rock from July, and Jungle from mans like Benny Page. It wouldn't be a Moneyshot set with out some curveballs as standard. Supplied in spades here by aggy Punk singles from The Salford Jets, and the funky chamber music stylings of Andrew Lloyd-Webber. DJ Food looks back once again for our 25th Anniversary slot taking 'Free Comic Book Day' (this Saturday, May 4th) as his theme to present tracks that feature references to comic book characters. The Marvel and DC worlds of Superman, Batman and Spiderman feature heavily with everyone from Snoop Dogg to Cliff Richard revealing their passion for Caped Crusaders and Wall Crawlers. But the more obscure feature too with three nods to Judge Dredd, two for Flash Gordon and even Elton John singing the praises of Dan Dare. DJ Food will have a piece of artwork in a new exhibition called Image Duplicator - looking at the original comic artists that Lichtenstein copied for his most famous work - opening on May 16th at Orbital Comics in London.
