The opening cut Everything and the title track are perfect slices of melodic deepness with enough modern swirl to complement the 90s flourishes. The third release in the 10YEARS story sees the two label-heads take centre stage once more. A split EP between Per Hammar and Parallax Deep, it showcases the many nuances to each producers’ sound arsenal. Berlin-based Per Hammar has been enjoying a swift ascent recently, thanks mainly to some brilliantly received sounds on the likes of Infuse (where he collaborated with Fuse’s, Rossko), Malin Genie Music (where he collaborated with Malin Genie and was remixed by Mandar’s S.A.M) and Okain’s always on-point Talman. Parallax Deep is a producer whose sounds are always worth the wait - and one listen to her contribution here and you’ll see what we mean. 
 
A cultured, dub-heavy, minimal-inspired release that speaks volumes of the duo’s penchant for curious, otherworldly sounds, this is techno of the sort that is laced with atmosphere, sci-fi tinges and futuristic-sounding flourishes. Parallax Deep’s ‘Trim’ is a case in point. On the surface, it does very little: gliding along at a steady pace, picking up gentle momentum as it goes. This one though, is all about the details, Listen closely and attentively and you’ll encounter a deep-as-hell track that notable for its empotive prowess and dexterous appeal. Truly impressive stuff. 
 
On the flip, Per Hammar comes out with ‘External’, a more ‘banging’ track that sees the producer switch matters firmly in a techno direction. From a purely emotional standpoint, it’s cut from a similar cloth to its predecessor, but this one is all about the hypnotic, trippy, repetitive vibes. A hugely engaging and deep track that’s primed for discerning dancefloors, it acts as a perfect foil to Parallax Deep’s contribution. An inspiring release that’s sure to appeal to fans of quality-strewn house and techno - and further proof of a label that’s definitely hit its stride of late. Hand-stamped, vinyl only and limited to 300 copies, savvy collectors are sure to snap up this one as soon as they can.

After OW001's maiden-voyage into outer space, Outworld now takes us to the underworld courtesy of label head Klangkuenstler's 'Balthazar' EP, which marries raw peaktime-power with claustrophobic-come-ecstatic atmospheres, served over the course of four tracks.
The devil's dancing on the title-track: as serrated off-hits shatter on tough kicks, a wicked saw-riff begins to drill through the drums as if summoned from Hades. In contrast, the bass-driven body and pulsating sinus-tone of 'Zorn Amons' grind like teeth as they build in tension. A moment of illusive release comes with 'Das Schattenreich', on which the reverberating, fast-paced percussion
runs for escape, hunted fiercely by a meaty trance-lead. On 'Jenseits', though, Klangkuenstler pulls us back into purgatory, showcasing a dramatic end to a carefully crafted and devilishly fun EP of rough club bangers.

Klangkuenstler first made his debut on our SUM 5 VA with his massive track ‘Continuum’ and now returns for his first solo outing on Second State with two absolute bombs primed for decimating any dance floor they encounter. 

‘Razor’ kicks off the EP in a concept where fierce, rapid drums and 90’s inspired leads result in a nostalgic yet modern twist to a timeless idea. The title track ‘Dunkle Illusion’ initiates the B-side by utilizing an ominous acid line with sinister intent slithers between racing percussion creating an undeniably wicked atmosphere. Wrapping up the short player is Alignment’s remix of ‘Dunkle Illusion’ which sees the original reworked into a powerful display of devilish melodics while never losing the intensity and force of the original’s character. This EP perfectly blends Techno with Rave sounds, and there is no better way to welcome Klangkuenstler to the Second State family.
