Rupture w/ Double O 040325

This is the recording from my set at Parameter 10, Public Works, San Francisco on 17 May 2025. 

The room was comically packed by the time I started (11pm) and the crowd was visibly itching to lift off, but it was so early in the night and the rest of the (stacked) lineup leant so heavily towards UK and bass-heavy music that I decided to leave the dubstep to the professionals, keep it slow and go in the opposite direction: mid 120s, wriggly, psychedelic, gurgly, engrossing, a little weird but also sometimes fun. Maybe on some level I was level preparing myself for Return To The Source in Detroit the following weekend – though ironically I ended up playing much faster and with more broken beats at RTTS than I did here. In any case, I had a blast. Been really enjoying exploring the 120-130 zone recently. Thanks to Nick for having me back, hope you all enjoy the recording.

The next Deep Mind Music mix comes from Angel D’lite, a much-loved DJ in London’s underground rave scene. She is known for her high energy colourful sets which fuse spiralling breakbeat, acid, trance, 90s classics and more. For her deep mind music mix, Angel D’lite explores the chill out room counterbalance to classic rave sounds. Taking listeners through twirling arps, ambient-trance, wistful downtempo and more, this lush and emotional mix brings together a web of influences new and old 🌸🔮🌟

Listening to this mix feels like being submerged in a fuscia-hued cosmic bubble bath. The first half lulls you in with gentle variations between shapes and colours, from Dopplereffekt to Enya. The second half of the mix dives into deep emotions, and trippy imaginal worlds, with lackadaisical beats and ponderous pads. Reminiscent of the best 90s ambient CD compilations I feel a soft nostalgia listening to this mix, striking a delicate balance between euphoric and introspective emotions. Perfect for listening to in the glorious spring sunshine 🌺💗🧚‍♀️
