His musical outcomes offer multiple perspectives of his universe, combining a love for soulful dance music with the raw Amsterdam aesthetic. Masalo’s dj sets are proof of this mentality, unearthing unfamiliar sounds and combining them with records that could be seen as modern-day successors. This approach is also translated in his production art. Productions as ‘Testify’, ‘Red Light’ and his remix on Grammy-nominated artist Bassekou Kouyaté’s ‘Jama Ko’, has stirred up the dance music community worldwide. Masalo’s creations are also favoured by Rush Hour Records.

Together with Kamma, Masalo runs the dance party series Brighter Days, a colourful get-together celebrating dance music culture to the fullest. Artists as Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Hunee, Kuniyuki, Osunlade, Ge-ology and many more have rocked these parties. With class-act performances at clubs such as Contact Tokyo and Djoon Paris and festivals such as Liverpool Disco Festival and Dimensions, Masalo is vastly continuing to inspire dance music culture around the world.

"As I get a chance to present a very eclectic selection of music within my 'Open Library' shows on Worldwide FM, I decided to take a more club focused direction for this Mixmag In Session podcast. I tried to present the variety of music that I like to play out in parties, clubs or festivals, from the classic and deep sounds of Nelson Paradise Roman’s 'I Love’ to St Germain’s remix of 'Fadjamou'. As for Cliff St Cyr’s Deep Voyage - it’s an all time favourite House track of St Germain and myself, complimented by Sacha Dive’s latest release on Bass Culture. 

"I also tried to present a more hypnotic aspect of music with E GZR’s dope Moritz’esque vibe or Dubspeeka’s release on Odd Even, before moving into James Ruskin’s uncompromising remix of Aiken 'Dominance' and our forthcoming remix of Scan 7 on Elypsia Records before finishing the set with two techno classics and leaving you with Underground Resistance’s 'Final Frontier'. Fresh off the heels of his highly anticipated double EP ‘Wuzzelbud FF’ - a “stylistic follow-up” to his 2004 debut album ‘Wuzzelbud KK’ - Robag Wruhme has thrown together a wonderfully elaborate mix for the next installment of our In Session series.

Speaking on the mix he's delivered, Wruhme explains: "To me, it's really boring to simply mix one track into the next one because you can't to convey the energy of a specific situation from a club into the living room. Therefore, I put the ladder really high when I do mixes. Ever since the first one back in 2005 for the festival 'Sonne, Mond & Sterne,' I used additional sample fragments and layers. In addition, I only use some parts of a track and not the entire thing. The result is a symbiosis of sounds and moments."

Our November session turned into a bit of an accidental / on purpose lockdown / COVID theme (check the track titles). We took the opportunity to play some darker and tripper stuff that we don’t usually. Tracks from Bufiman, Cottam, HUNEE, Harvey Sutherland Axel Boman and labels such as Sprechen, Dekmantel, Nu Groove, Running Back, Hypercolour and a whole load more.
