Au croisement d’influences venant de toutes parts, Taxi Kebab est la collision entre synthétiseurs, boîtes à rythmes, guitares modulées et buzuq amplifié.
Dans une réappropriation de sa langue paternelle, c’est à travers un registre poétique libérateur que Leïla Jiqqir (buzuq, guitare et voix) interfère avec les arpèges acides
et nappes ruisselantes entraînées par les expérimentations de Romain Henry aux machines.
Majoritairement électronique, la musique du duo franco-marocain côtoie parfois des influences krautrock, psyché, techno, habitées par le spectre des racines Nord Africaines. Laissant apparaître des bribes d’identités troubles, leur son, comme une échappée nocturne, sillonne les paysages à travers un son brut, psyché, désorienté et désoriental.
Après leur 1er single Lmchi w Rjou3 (mai 2019) et 3 ans de tournée (France & Europe), le duo a sorti son second single Ttabla en Septembre 2021 sur la compilation Musique de Fête (Nowadays Records).
Leur premier EP Visions al 2ard sortira au printemps 2022 précédé de deux singles sur le label Real World X.

"El Fadaa" is the fourth release from Romanian outfit Khidja this year, after EPs released on Love On The Rocks, [Emotional] Especial and Bahnsteig 23. This time it's through the young label Malka Tuti from Tel Aviv, from which we already featured a premiere a few weeks ago, the Willie Burns remix of "Botanical Garden" by Yovav. A2 "Drums Of Taksim" is a psychedelic downtempo trip with a huge build up featuring a spoken poem by Alan Berliner, live instruments mixed with electronics and some arabic singing, clocking in at 12 minutes. Remix courtesy of Baris K and Mehmet Aslan appears on the flip side too. Strong release, not to be missed! (Khidja + Mihai Balabason Guitars, Andrei Dinescu on Saz / Violin, Mehdi Aminian on Voice / Setar / Ney and Alan Berliner as the storyteller)
