XAN is a Moscow-based producer originally from the town of Votkinsk – the birthplace of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. XAN then moved to St. Petersburg, and eventually to Moscow where he became part of the Johns’ Kingdom community. There, he began solidify himself as an established electronic music producer and DJ. His dedication allowed him to fuse new influences with his own musical background as well as single-handedly organize a unique underground festival in hometown Votkinsk. Later he becomes a resident of the main DIY club in Moscow «Rabitza» and a frequent guest at other notable events such as ARMA17, Boiler Room or NTS.

This record is dedicated to the entire Rabitza team people — «Рабы Рабицы» (Slaves of Rabitza).

For our next @DarkScienceElectro premiere, we take a look a recently released compilation from Croatian label @CrobotMuzik - For this premiere, I selected my favorite track from the staggering 66-track release, which was extremely difficult to do given the stiff competition. Ultimately I landed on the track by French producer @Commuter 

This song immediately caught my attention with it's modulating bass line, dramatic pad sounds and a beautiful lead synth that cuts the mix of the song in the most appropriate way. This track features a 135 BPM pace, great use of synths like Neutron, Bass Station 2, Model D as well as a wide variety of digital synths. The rhythm of this track is a custom kit put together using both digital and hardware elements like the TR-08 and various samples from Native Instruments and others. Regardless of how the song was created, it is a real standout amongst some serious giants on this compilation featuring the likes of: @amper-clap, @adj-808, @brettaffects, @dibu-z, @terensk, @fleckescofficial, @dj-xed, @henryhearse, @magikbitum, @dark-vektor, @pl-anet, @dr-siak, @sound-synthesis-official, @datawave, @t-error-5 and many, many, many more.

"Dalekovod (power lines) is a series of Electro music compilations released on Crobot Muzik(formed by DJ Xed and N-ter). The stated purpose of this series was to connect Electro artists from all around the world, who share the same passion. Dalekovod isn't simply a word, it means so much more; 'Power' stands for an electric charge that flows through our system. 'Lines' represents the connection that binds us all. Through Electro music we became true friends."

The air was cold as he drove onwards through the darkness of the winter night. His car headlights flickered and flashed, illuminating the road ahead with prominent disarray. He let out a sigh, his breath hit the window and he rubbed his hands furiously on the steering wheel to try and generate some warmth. The radio crackled and buzzed with an abrupt stutter as he dotted between signals and frequencies. In the distance he could see some small lights dancing and waving - he was hunting for Detroit. 

Saturated Color is set to release a new EP on Releisure, a fast paced electro inspired affair which is destined to ignite and inspire on the dancefloor. One to watch for sure.

Italian producer Soreab returns to Beat Machine Records with ‘Wrinkles’, a four-track EP which features vocals from pioneering hip hop artist Parallax and two remixes from BBS owner Benton and Planet Mu and Sneaker Social Club affiliate Basic Rhythm. The release proceeds records on DRIFT KINGS, Club Late Music and Top Billin Music. 

Talking about the release, Soreab says, “I was playing for my crew parties (Sobborghi) at The Alibi in Dalston and realised I couldn’t play my own tunes because they were not DJ friendly at all, so I used to end up spinning other artist’s dubs. That’s when I got motivated to try making my own productions playable in clubs while keeping my own sound because I wanted to avoid to just making simple drum tracks. Overall “Wrinkles” is an EP that despite the title, conveys happiness and excitement with each track  inspired by episodes where I got gassed, astonished and overwhelmed in my private life.”

Check out the exclusive stream on Benton’s remix of ‘Watchme’, twisting the track into a 90s hardcore weapon, complete with a middle-finger worthy drop.

Australian producer Assembler Code returns with his first EP on Censor Music, ‘Generator’. With previous realises on CPU, Cultivated Electronics, Boysnoize, Dance Trax and more, Assembler Code brings his timely signature dystopian sound to the imprint.
