New York has long been the city for providing many talented artists, and one of those young producers making some serious waves after a stacked 2019 is Avision. After playing at the coveted Time Warp NY edition, and kicking off 2020 with BPM in Costa Rica he followed this up with his debut on Maceo Plex’s Ellum imprint.

Back in 2019 he remixed a track for Maxinne, which made his debut on Knee Deep In Sound, so it’s no surprise that he’s now back with his first house release ‘Taking Over Me’. It’s no doubt that the city has sculpted the sound of his productions, they have this special kind of chunkiness to them which makes him rather unique.

The title track sees Avision taking a deeper house path. Solid kicks and a sparse percussive underbelly make room for melodics from the off. Tension is applied with layers of hats and cymbals creating a wall of sound reaching epic conclusion in the final drop. 

‘Part 2’ sees Avision apply the pressure with a dubbier stripped back version. With the bassline taking control, this is one bumpy ride into the late night where the dancefloor is full, and the lights are low. Chambray rounds out the EP with a sensational remix. The Rekids favourite opts for a dirty warehouse vibe focused on light and dark.

DJ Pierre delivers the second installment of his acclaimed 'Acid 88' compilation series by serving up a quality collection of acid bangers, including Bloody Mary's piercing and squelching peak-time cut 'Love Is Acid'.

With warping 303 riffs Bloody Mary showcases the essence of rave with her hypnotic acid track. The French-born, Berlin-based artist has been carving out her place in the underground for the past decade with releases on various labels, but it's her Dame-Music imprint that's helped her garner a cult-like following. Now her latest offering on Afro Acid will further showcase her unique approach to electronic music.

James Solace, otherwise known as UK house stalwart, Burnski, delivers a bumper packed EP for Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two imprint, inviting a host of remixers, namely Jansons, East End Dubs, and VONDA7, to the party! 

Jamie Jones’ Hot Creations label, Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, and Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound have already been platforms for Solace’s exquisite productions, and on ‘Setting Sun’ / ‘The Light’, we’re treated to more underground goodies from the British producer.

‘Setting Sun’ goes in with one of those Resse style basslines and a stammering melody that efficaciously unfurls to great effect, and has been one of the biggest and most requested tracks in Ahmed’s sets over the last couple of months, whilst the chugging pace of ‘The Light’ becomes intensified with an amalgam of arpeggiated synths, pad sweeps, and esoteric samples.

Jansons tackles ‘The Light’ with a breezy and warming remix, whilst East End Dubs carves out a swinging beats re-working of ‘Setting Sun’, which VONDA7 also injects some technocentric power into.
