Insult To Injury head honcho, Timothy Clerkin, returns to the Ransom Note Records sub-label with four Acid-infused slices of analogue vulgarity, aimed squarely at the newly opened dance floors! 

We kick off with the eponymous “Plasticity”; beginning as a fun, bouncy, Acid number, the vortex soon opens up before us & we’re sucked into a black hole of sound, where time & space is stretched to its limits, disorienting all those who enter. However, we’re spat safely out the other side, landing on luscious bed of warm analogue synthesis, towards home. 

Lead single from the EP, “Would?” is a collaboration with ITI alumni, Buran. Created remotely during lockdown, this reinterpretation of the classic 90’s Alice In Chains anthem has aggressive 909’s thumping & distorted 303’s squelching, as the guitar riffs & vocal melodies of the original are replayed for the club. All proceeds from this single will be going to Mind UK, in tribute to Alice In Chains singer, Layne Staley, who sadly died of an overdose in 2002. 

“Mercurial” is so called due to its ever changing direction: a hard one to attribute to any one genre, it was recorded live with four synths and an 808; proof that sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. “Order 66” closes us out with a shotgun blast of Hardcore / Breaks - a nod to the lofi sampling culture of the early 90’s UK scene, the classic orchestral rave stabs take us back to the golden age of the warehouse party… Whistles at the ready, ravers!

Following his ‘Mazes & Monoliths’ EP on Rekids in 2021, as well as releases on Running Back, Hypercolour, Idle Hands, and Craigie Knowes, the Elastic Dreams boss returns to Radio Slave’s label for another standout three-track EP of colourful and psychedelic cuts.

Leading the release is ‘The Mind Blanks At The Glare’, which sees the Bristolian utilise low-slung breakbeats, bouncing basslines, and fluttering synths for a chugging start to the EP. ‘Don’t Look In The Freezer’ follows with dubbed-out FX and stomping low end, before ‘Cosmic Trigger’ brings hypnotic bass together with trippy, twinkling arps and dreamy pads for a gentle finalé.

"Each track on the EP wasn’t designed for dance floors necessarily, it’s more kinda ‘head music’, and for those that have delved into the A Sagittariun albums, the kind of productions that are synonymous with the more ‘listening experience’ side of A Sagittariun. ‘Strange Brew’ is probably an apt title for this triplet, as each cut goes on its own psychedelic journey, traversing BPMs, shades and moods." - A Sagittariun

The Bicep boys are absolutely smashing it at the moment.

Their last release on Aus included 'Just' and the spacey banger has been smashed on pretty much every soundsystem around the globe.

For their next release they return to their own Feel My Bicep imprint, alongside fellow Northern Irishman Hammer, for a rework of that very same banger. The 'Go' (Flanger mix) is a different edit of the track that's been causing a stir (born in the same studio session as 'Just' believe it or not) and we've got the premiere.

Legowelt has been putting other house and techno producers to shame since the the 1990s.

The Dutch artist releases music at a rate of knots – there’s been at least nine albums under the Legowelt name alone now, and he has over 30 different aliases, all of which interact in weird, wonderful ways. His music has appeared on labels as disparate as Unknown to the Unknown and Cocoon, and he’s got a reputation as a real studio wizard – not only due to the hardware in the studio, but the sample packs and plugins that he gives out for free online. On top of that, he’s about as unpretentious as it’s possible to get.

Here 'Institute Of The Overmind', which was made live in a session filmed for FACT TV, gets the vinyl treatment backed with a monster 90s trance re-work from Photonz, of which we exclusively premiere here today.

The sound delivered by Photonz on his DJ sets and productions blends the bold, romantic side of rave's original spirit with a new sound carved borrowing from experimental music and psychedelia. The result is a unique signature that has gained support from key figures of the electronic music scene like Legowelt, Ben UFO, DJ TLR, Jackmaster and Ivan Smaghe.

Since his debut in 2006 with "Ronin", Photonz has released on labels such as Dissident, Dirty, R-Zone, and Unknown To The Unknown. The latter put out some his best work, with the EP "Hurt Me Hurt Me" getting a 10/10 review in DJ Mag and the track "1551" being played in Jackmaster's first ever BBC Essential Mix appearance.

There's a lot of music floating about in the world. There's possibly too much music, actually. So how do you, dear reader, decide what's worthy of your praise? How do you determine what needs to go straight to the top of your must-listen pile? There's a few ways of doing that of course, but by far the most useful is to see if Larry Heard's involved. If, by some magnificent stroke of luck, he is, then get whatever it is in your possession IMMEDIATELY.

Without Chicagoan Heard's contributions, its quite possible that house as we know it today wouldn't exist. That's not journalistic hyperbole either—Heard, AKA Mr Fingers, is as important as dance music producers get. Imagine a world without "Mystery of Love" or "Washing Machine" or "You're Someone Special" or "Can You Feel It," and what you're imagining is an infinitely duller world. Heard is house royalty, and is rightly worshipped as such.

Which is why we're absolutely ecstatic to be bringing you a world exclusive listen to a brand new remix by Heard himself. The big man's been given free reign over Detroit producer Mandingo's 2016 Rekids release "Universe II" for a fantastic 12" dropping this week on the same imprint. Heard's chunky, chewy, cosmically-attuned take on the track is a deep space roller destined to send discerning clubbers into a total tailspin over the next few weeks and months. If we still had a record bag, we'd tell you that it'd never leave ours. Oh, and the Melchior Productions remix on the other side of the record is a stunner too.

Underspreche first caught our attention back in 2016 with the release of their mini album "Invito Alla Danza" on Optimo Trax, a record that possesses the captivating mixture of ethno vocals & sounds with a raw house dynamic. From there they continued to impress with their unique twist on many prominent House and Techno jams through their Experiments series. We are thrilled to have worked with them to bring you this EP and who better to describe the record than Underspreche themselves...

"We think every kind of art has an important role in our lives because of the magical power it has inside. Positive art can be profound, produce questions, show us new perspectives, transform feelings and connect people telepathically. If this is not magic??!!
