After a successful launch with tracks from Citizen and Ejeca, Loft Records returns with its second single this March, entitled ‘Ghana’ by Dorsia, and backed with reworks from HNNY, 

Jay Shepheard and Roberto Rodriguez. Dorsia is the collaborative guise of British duo Adam Reid and Andy Watson, both artists have been producing individually for quite some time, but have now joined forces and are set to release their debut single via Loft Records here. The pair create melodic, understated electronic music tipped towards the dance floor. Although newcomers under this title, working with such a promising young label and following the footsteps of Ejeca and Citizen, Dorsia are certainly ones to watch in 2014. 

The original mix of ‘Ghana’ opens the single, a gritty, low-slung house number driven by raw analogue bass, crunchy rhythms, smoothly programmed reverb soaked vocal lines and tension building atmospherics to kick off the package in style. Let’s Play House / Local Talk artist HNNY steps in first on remix duties next, reshaping the vibe entirely to generate a stunningly contrasting interpretation. The Swedish producer opts for ever-evolving saw wave bass, rugged drums, meandering melodies and a subtly blossoming dynamism to create a truly classy rework. Then on the latter half of the 12’’ we have two additional remixes of ‘Ghana’, first up is the ever on- point Compost artist Jay Shepheard, who turns in a dubbed out house reshape, fuelled by stabbing bass hits, tension building strings and swirling echoes. While closing the package is Roberto Rodriguez, the Finnish artist delivers a stripped back version, which tips the focus solely towards the groove with bumpy bass tones and heavily swinging rhythms driving the track throughout.

Swedish duo, Bambook, comprised of Eiad Sayegh and Hannes Netzell, have been captivating our interest since they appeared on our radar with their release on UK imprint, Faceless Recordings back in February. It seems a little digging into their past and you can find releases on labels like Get Physical, Circus Recordings, Culprit and quite a few others. Scheduled for July 14, Edu Imberon's label, Fayer, will release a remix package of Qtier's, "Set Me On" containing a piano laden remix by Bambook.

If there's anything we've learned about these guys is that you better not take your eyes and ears off them. The work they are doing is quality and it's attracting all the right people. Without a doubt, Bambook will find their way into your playlists, your mixes and on club sound systems anywhere good music is being played.

The 4 tunes of his “Float” EP are pure Tech House. “Float” starts with lush organ stabs with echoing vocals and strings, continuing with a bass led house cut and percussions. The deep and dubby “Float” remix is by another up and coming versatile italian producer: Whitesquare (Skint, Noir and Defected). Highly regarded for his breakout track "Alice" - which featured the haunting vo- cals of Russia's favourite DJ/chanteuse Julia Govor and was championed by many a primetime DJs, not least Seth Troxler - Eugen Dubrovin a.k.a. Qbeck touches down on Audiomatique with a quartet of mightily impressive deep house bombs.

"Mova", the title track sets out his stall, as unusual percussive elements are layered to build a dubby groove around which hea- vy metallic tones, a circling synth repetition and a bright, pinging descending melody slowly gather. It's hypnotic stuff, for the body as much as the mind.

"Hoob" casts an atmosphere of tense sus- pense to which layers of synth and music box motifs are added. A mid-section that envelops you in a heady Eastern swirl beautifully contrasts its intricate, clockwork magic.

Meanwhile, the spooky vibe and driving menace of "Amethyst" culminate in a dan- cing hands-in-the-air rave hook.

The crisp, bassy "Getaway" beguiles with layers of warped and pitch-bent synth work.

It's a package that showcases a real pa- noply of styles: testimony to a restlessly in- ventive imagination.

Globetrotting DJ and producer Seth Troxler is well and truly back on the beats. Having recently released his first track in years, Evangelion, on Guy Gerber's Rumors imprint, he makes his debut solo on his very own Tuskegee. Launching the label with The Martinez Brothers a year ago, CZ kicks off the fourth release for the label with atmospherics that make way for deep funk grooves that slowly build into a twisted, acid dancefloor stomper. Backed by the rolling Junkyard Tool, Seth's Just Back EP is out on vinyl from 27th April on and digitally from 18th May.

Not content with presiding over three out- standing labels - Dessous, Audiomatique and Poker Flat (now in its 16th year) - and dusting down his long-dormant Traffic Si- gns pseudonym for the brilliant "Cookie Jar", Steve Bug finds time in his schedule to spoil you with another stellar release.

The title track "Coconut Paradise" is a ma- sterclass in crisp, high-definition house, as dubby synths, a solid kick and an insistent bass stab form a deeply hypnotic groove. Sustained tones surge in from the distance - all the elements coming together to create a perpetual motion machine.

"Thick As Mud" lives up to its name: this is house music that draws on the deep and deadly palette and spacious arrangements of dubstep and glitch, burnished with sni- ckering percussive repetitions and scything synths.

"Pants on Fire" is a restlessly inventive bricolage of unconventional percussive sounds and textures. Metallic tones ping and bounce deliciously in every direction.

One EP. Three outstanding tunes. Another formidable addition to an impressive discography.

Hold up. The new one from Jets is a frantic and wildly-energetic track that whips back and forth with footwork-esque tendencies.

It uses glitzy riffs and beautifully distorted vocals to take you to a dreamstate. It's pretty mad but then again we wouldn't expect anything else from the two.

Some of grime's most well-known instrumentals were creations of East London crew Ruff Sqwad and one producer who played a part is Prince Rapid. 

Since classics like 'Pied Piper', 'Functions On The Low' and 'Together', Rapid's moved into solo production and he's still making screw face-inducing, hard as nails tunes like this one. And there's the small matter of working with Future Brown on their debut album last year.

Back with a new release, 'Rapid Fire Vol. 2', next week, he's got another selection of scorchers like 'Pepper Riddim' and 'Pounded Yam' coming.

Rob Orme makes the type of beats that make you feel like you're in a bubble. Last year's debut album, 'Slow Waves', was a dream and had you encapsulated for 12 sparkly, sheen-coated tracks. 

The fact he resides in Japan is clear through his tunes, the vibrant, colourful beats replicating the hypercolour whirr of Tokyo. Hip hop's another influence, tunes like 'Forgive Me' and 'Never Again' proved his worth as a future garage producer and he's got more in the locker to unleash. 

Forthcoming release 'Stay Home' is out soon and sees the UK artist up the tempo for a couple of juke and footwork-inspired tracks, only replacing the usual aggression of the Chicago sound with his trademark lullaby-like floating feeling.

S.P.Y's take on 'Souvenirs' completely rips up the original, despite a few shimmering moments, as he drowns it in grit and turns it into five minutes of shredding rowdiness.
