Carl Cox really doesn't need much of an introduction. We all know he's a genius behind the decks and is an Ibiza legend thanks to his 13-year-old Music Is Revolution party at Space.

Riva Starr – Raw Edits Vol 1

Renowned for his ability to bring creativity and flair to his wild remixes, edits and re-edits, Riva Starr is a hugely welcome new addition into the Saved fold. Bringing a special collection of new edits, the producer displays the kind of dexterity that has made him so impossible to pigeonhole over the last decade.

First up, Riva delivers a driving and energetic mashup of DJ ROLAND CLARK’s “The First Time” and Paul C & Paolo Martini’s “Take Some Time.” Frenetic percussion in the top end and futuristic FXs create a party-focused pace as the dubby atmospheres and pumping beats add the power and momentum. The ghetto-funk vocal adds another dimension to make this Riva’s own personal homage to the history of house music. The raw edit of “Chasing Autumns” by Taras Van De Voorde continues that exploration further, tapping into a unique mix of classic sounding house with rich piano chords and emotive strings; and a modern, raw sounding warehouse energy that burns and stomps away underneath.

Taking things into a much deeper hue, Riva with his colourful edit of Luca Morris’ “Play By Play.” Built around subtly shifting melodies, a deep, rolling bassline and tumbling drums, the track shuffles forward with bags of personality and charisma. Intoxicating and heady, this one will keep heads down whilst infiltrating the feet. Riva’s edit of Rino Cerrone & Flavio Diaz’s “Extraordinary Wiring” is a dizzying, head-spinning workout that swirls and shakes with an unsteadying disposition. Funky drums interplay with highly distorted synths and mechanical sounding basslines to create a sound that is at once playful, addictive and unstoppable.

Brazilian-born Joyce Muniz immersed herself in the world of electronic music after moving to Austria at the age of 12. By the age of 16, she purchased her first 1212s and became one of Vienna’s youngest DJs. When the raw and pulsating sounds of Brazilian dance music baile funk infiltrated European house and techno, Muniz connected with her origins by providing vocals for Viennese producer Stereotyp. Solidifying her stance as a multitalented artist and MC, Muniz satisfied her craving to produce by diving deep into house music, carving out her own niche through a smooth-yet-funky sound often complimented by sultry vocals and thumping basslines.

’An early coup for Exploited was 2011's 'Morning Love', Muniz's collaboration with Louie Austen. An old school Viennese crooner who'd worked alongside the rat pack in Las Vegas, he'd risen to prominence again after the turn of the millennium, alongside the likes of Peaches and Gonzalez, on the crest of electroclash. With his lived-in vocals riding a spacey house groove punctuated by snippets of breakbeats, Austen was so impressed with Muniz that he asked her to produce his next album.

This mutual respect was to arise again in the shape of Maya Jane Coles, who helped get Muniz's music into the hands of 20:20 Vision, so far resulting in two Eps. Then Richie Hawtin got hold of an unreleased track and played it on his Ibiza Boiler Room. “I really was wondering how Richie Hawtin got it!” Joyce said. Still, got it he had, leaving just the clearance of its Kraftwerk sample from 'It's More Fun to Compute' and the addition of a vocal by ex-Jungle Brother Bam, for the modern day hip-house of 'Back in the Days' to become a hit for Exploited last year.’ (DJMag) Not to forget her collaboration track ’Warriors’ with Bpitch longstay Kiki or her recent remix of Traffic Signs aka Steve Bug and Jake the Rapper’s ’Cookie Jar’.

Her next release ’You Always Get Me High’ will drop on Exploited in May.

The Audiojack duo team up with cohort Kevin Knapp to release their heavy club weapon ‘Vibrate’ on Hot Creations. Berlin based Re.You and former Minus mainstay and Fun Records founder Barem take the reins for remix duty.

Making his first appearance on the label with this remix, Re.You’s other releases can be found on Cocoon, Mobilee and Souvenir alongside second remixer Barem, a talented producer from Argentina. Texas-bred, San Francisco-schooled and Berlin based producer Kevin Knapp is no stranger to the Hot Creations imprint, having released his successful two track ‘The Heft EP’ earlier this year. Originally from Leeds, and now based in Ibiza, Audiojack are set to celebrate a decade of music-making with exciting new releases forthcoming on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, 2020 Vision, Tsuba and their own label Gruuv.

Audiojack ft Kevin Knapp - Vibrate

If you're into house music, chances are you will have heard 'Son Of Raw' by the don, Dennis Ferrer. It's a seminal track that features sumptuous pianos, rolling percussion and timeless vocals that simply ooze seduction. Basically, it's a fucking classic.

What's most shocking about the track is that it's now 10-years-old and even though Ferrer was producing long before that, it's one of his best and most recognisable tracks. To celebrate the anniversary, Ferrer's label Objektivity will release a brand new set of remixes that each put a unique spin on the original stomper.

André Hommen's remix keeps the main melodies intact but adds a bassline that doesn't mess around. It adds an extra element of bounce and once the second half of the track hits, those sultry vocals come charging in, sending goosebumps up any real house music fan's spine.

Burgeoning DJ and producer Bontan makes his debut on the notorious Hot Creations label. Hotly anticipated, the release features two original cuts to fuel his rising profile.

UK based Bontan has been using title track The First Time as his secret weapon for the last six months and is now finally unleashing it. “I’ve been testing it and tweaking it play by play!’ he explains. ‘The vocal compliments the rolling bass melody and gives it a darker edge”. This a producer who fully understands how to create a track for a heaving dancefloor. Personal Question is the second cut and flips the mood entirely with a twisted vocal entwined in beeps and percussion, whilst stirring the sentiments of lost early hours.

A firm favourite in the underground scene, he has built a solid reputation with releases on Circus Recordings, 20/20 Vision, and Cajual among others.

As the weather heats up, so does the Moon Harbour release schedule, this time with two terrific new tracks from label debutant Dario D'Attis.

At this point, Swiss artist Dario D’Attis is a real veteran with a long and deep appreciation for house music. From running his own parties to hosting a radio show, headlining round the world and producing on labels like Defected, Clarisse Records and Purple Music, he has done it all. Recognised for his fresh take on the genre and always killer drum programming, he is a standout talent and comes up with the goods once more here. 

The charming ‘Tribe Chant’ is just the sort of summery track that gets outdoor crowds going. The rubbery, loopy drums swing low, the vocals up top bring the vibes and little guitar riffs add funk and colour. It’s a track that builds in tension but never boils over, instead staying cool with muted chords and rolling pads that are always on the move. 

Second offering ‘Ceremony’ is seven alluring minutes of restrained, atmospheric and organic deep house. It keeps on pulling you in with flowing pads and tinkling percussion, while more vocal chants subtly increase the pressure. It’s a real set builder that has a warm heart and genuine sense of suspense. 

Both tracks here are classy house efforts designed to get the attention of the floor in smart new ways.
