Stalheim - Mix

After releasing on Hot Haus rec(ords) and Pitch Down, Rumore returns home to Discomaths with a collection of tropical beats and healing atmospheres. Cuts that are as deep and thought out, as they are danceable.

On the A- side “Tucano” is shaking its exotic feathers, surrounded by swirling arpegios and the distant whistles of the jungle. It takes you on a voyage to the deeps of the rain forest, as it alternates between the clarity of its pre-Columbian flutes and the magical mist lifted by its leads.

On the more introspective B- side, we submerge ourselves into “Boreal”, experiencing what would dusk be like in a perfect world. Emotional catharsis a waits as the intricate breaks float above the strings and pads that seem to emerge from the bottom of the ocean, and the chemical arpeggios colours the water around them.

The release closes with “La Fonte”, a pleasurable well that bubbles of new age. The humid guitars and warm vapours pass over us in a paused moment of hypnotic massage.

On the flip B1 - October has a cinematic personality, envisioning a urban landscape, while B2 - Stereo Sense expresses a special dynamicity of sound. Don't get tricked by my rather emotional introduction though, Neal knows about beats and you'll hear. From breakbeat to funk, Chicago house to dub this EP is all-round a delightful expression of contemporary club music.

Phonica White’s first release gets a long-awaited reissue with a previously unreleased Lord Of The Isles remix!

As the first release on Phonica White back in 2009, ‘Galaxy’ by Japan’s Iori is an expertly crafted piece of dance oor-focused Techno, led by a rolling bassline and crisp hi-hats, with hypnotic melody patterns skittering off the surface. As we described it upon release, it’s a trippy but accessible heads-down affair that has the depth and the bite to do damage at peak-time and in the after-hours alike. A decade later, those words still ring true and as it’s now one of the most sought after records on Phonica White it’s the perfect time to revive it - with a twist.

This time we have freshened up the record by swapping original B-side ‘Urge’ with a previously unreleased remix of ‘Galaxy’ from Lord Of The Isles, the producer behind two of Phonica’s best received 12”s on the main label; ‘Year Of The City’ & ‘Greane / Gigha’. Countering the original’s functional sonics, his remix takes the track in a deeper, widescreen direction, swirling the original’s components around immersive pads and piano.

To keep collectors of the first pressing happy as well as to differentiate the two versions, the label artwork is the same Pedro Carvalho de Almeida design yet inverted and slightly tweaked to re ect the new tracklist and catalogue number.

Smallville Records has long delivered a dreamy house sound, often to widespread acclaim. The tight knit family of artists is one that you can always rely on to deliver the goods and the output is second to none. 

Christopher Rau has been releasing via the label since its conception and his latest EP is one of his best yet. 'The Keys' features four new cuts and here we premiere the title track. 

Rather than the sunshine-flecked house we're used to from Rau, this one is decidedly darker than his usual. It weaves and meanders with wavy melodies and slamming kicks, giving the track a forceful drive.
