The mix series and music platform Mantissa takes its first steps into the label space with Mantissa 001. Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has begun the label with a bang, three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or atone a night's shenanigans at an after's.
Space Cadet opens the extra-terrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. Frozen Bounce finalising the A side with a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair, is a warming club tool perfect for both beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

Kazakhstan-born, Tbilisi-based artist @avivx explores the sounds of Chicago house and 90s trance in his new single 'Love Lockdown'. This highly danceable, synth-driven and emotional track reflects on the feelings of lockdown blues and isolation, yet, climaxing with an uplifting melody, leaves the listeners in a hopeful spirit.

Irish DJ and producer @cici-cavanagh has unveiled her debut EP ‘Extraneous’, out July 16 on @melladeemusic’s Warehouse Music label. A four-track release, ‘Extraneous’ kicks off with the title-track, a fizzing, breakbeat-driven bomb that has already been supported by BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, where it found its way onto Jaguar’s ‘Hot List’. 

Check the premiere of ‘Katnip’, a heads-down cut, characterised by a driving 303 bassline and hypnotic vocal sample.

Following a set of well received singles since the inception of his @archwayrecords label last September, @cardinalsounduk presents his first extended play project in the form of 'Focal Point' EP , a four-track offering putting his versatility up for display for a wider audience.

Speaking on the project, Cardinal Sound aka Frazer Robinson states: “Some of these tunes were born during the very first few weeks of the Coronavirus pandemic, namely 'Focal Point'. 'Focal Point' is one track I distinctly remember having the daunting feeling of uneasiness and anxiety looming over my head during the composition stage... which ended up as a very dark rolling track - doesn’t take much to put 2 and 2 together there.”

Included in the project is heavyweight club roller 'Hacienda', which saw favourable feedback from the likes of Sherelle & Hybrid Minds. Featuring a gut-wrenching subline and a catchy, jungle-esque piano riff line that is akin to lines found in the hardcore tracks of that era, 'Hacienda' presents itself as a simple-yet-effective set weapon for any DJ’s arsenal.

What Goes Up are a collective based out of Edinburgh who focus on promoting the best up and coming artists in electronic music. After a successful mix series over the last year, the group have been working hard on the release of their new VA Compilation which is all in aid of mental health in Scotland.
