London-based producer, DJ and visual artist LCY (@lucyproduction) shares their final release of the year '22:22'. Euphoric and dysphoric, this track is a sombre and harmonic meditation on LCY’s feelings in the past year.

Their first solo release since the release of their dystopic post-human AI universe 'Pulling Teeth' earlier this year comes soon after the announcement they will join Goldie as a BBC Radio 1 Resident for February 2022.

LCY continues to solidify their place as a key proponent of UK underground music and culture with their label SZNS7N. In just two years it’s released an impressive plethora of intoxicating and innovative releases spanning all corners of electronic, bass and club music from the likes of NARA, Yazzus, Lijah, Tailor Jae, Diessa, Grove, Teya Logos and more and sold out the first label night pre-pandemic with plans to continue nights at the end of 2021.

@shimza returns to his @kunye-1 label this December with ‘Howling Moon’ featuring Kieran Fowkes and a remix from Innvervisions’ Denis Horvat.

Having released on Cadenza Records and Knee Deep in Sound, Shimza launched KUNYE in 2020 as a platform for South Africa’s emerging talent. Now, the South African lodestar returns to his label with melodic, afrotech EP ‘Howling Moon’ featuring Kieran Fowkes of Him_Self_Her fame on vocals and a remix from Innervisions’ Denis Horvat. 

A growling bassline underneath sharp, tribal hats and claps amalgamated with crashing symbols, theatrical pads and the haunting vocals of Kieran Fowkes unfasten the dramatic ‘Howling Moon’.

2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer. 

But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track ‘Nil by Mouth’ EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for ‘Heads Up’, it’s now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche. 

Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album’s entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released. 

The brand new cut ‘Foodchain’ from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus’ ‘Brainwork’, all the way back to Spor’s heavy-hitting ‘Bullet Time’ remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre’s darker side.  

But what can you expect from the man who garners such an explosive reputation across the club circuit? Audio brings his live personality into the whole album and accompanying mix; one that doesn’t let you pause for breath. They’re a collection of tracks that’ll leave an atomic bomb sized impression inside the community, which further solidifies his reputation as an ever- growing, unstoppable goliath.

Since the beginning of his career, the name Audio has been a synonym for unmatched power and a colossal presence within the drum & bass community. Competition have crumbled beneath his output, with the producer quickly becoming revered for not only his sound, but for the dark, thematic energy he brought to every live set across the globe.  Whether it’s causing bass-lead devastation at renowned festivals, like the Czech Republic’s Let it Roll, or the darkest corner of notorious London hotspots, there’s no denying one of the genre’s most profound overlords. 

And following the monumental success of his ‘Nil By Mouth’ EP, which saw him rise to an even more prominent position across the cyber world (amassing thousands of streams within days, despite being uploaded onto a brand new Soundcloud account), Audio is making a welcomed return. 

‘Shatterdome’ is stocky, imposing and forcibly holds you in its grasp. One of the most sought after, climatic anthems since it was first premiered within one of his infamous live shows and rinsed from Ibiza to the US by Andy C, ‘Shatterdome’ manipulates cinematic samples and pushes you into an apocalyptic soundscape.  Quaking with every drum roll, it’s a techy thumper which propels you through on steroids. A fresh cut elaborating on the producer’s impeccable standards, this single is undeniably fierce.

Just as intimidating is the double AA side ‘2 Stroke’. A pounding riddim underpinned by a bassline that reverberates through, it’s gradually built upon with a clanking cowbell before breaking into a synth like structure. Demonstrating a complexity which bares its teeth, whilst being indisputably intricate, Audio presents a flipside worthy of its predecessor.
So once again, it’s time for Audio to lay siege on your aural synapses; no other individual does it like the underground overlord.

Rua return with their 7th release featuring more of that hybrid 170 sound melting down sounds at the edge of jungle, grime and all things bass. Comma - Gasworks (Itoa Remix) [Premiere]

The sixth release from Berlin-based label Through These Eyes, Yoofee - Visualize EP,  delivers another tightly focused dose of bass music. Hailing from Potsdam, a small city outside Berlin, Yoofee’s music represents the trademark Through These Eyes sound: clean, fresh, and melodic bass-focused takes on ideas from jungle, halftime, dub, and more. 

On top of three original productions from Yoofee,  the 'Visualize EP'  features a remix by London-based Exit Records signee Itoa. Itoa brings his signature approach to ‘Clart’, transforming the breaks-filled scorcher into a hyper-speed rave tool, delicate and whimsical percussive rhythms slowly building in a frenzy, anchored throughout with a funky, steady bassline. Uses include: spaceship acceleration soundtrack. 

TTE006 - Visualize EP will be released October 26th, 2018 on vinyl exclusively, hand-stamped 12” in a limited edition of 300 copies.

In a lesson of modular magnificence and prosperity, London-based magician Itoa presents his take on 'no frills club music', this time on remix duties for Decent Damage's slick new 'Energy Connector' LP over on the legendary Off Me Nut Records - this is a real meeting of giants. Consistently sitting on the cutting edge of the underground electronic spectrum, Itoa continues to impress following his standout 2018 'Ever Orbit' EP on dBridge's seminal, groundbreaking Exit Records, as well as a 2020 VIP follow up to 2016's 'B 2the B', which dropped to a great reception on Bad Taste. As highlighted here, his eclectic polymerisation of Breakbeat, Jungle, Acid, Trap and Funk movements continues to cement him as one of the most diverse producers in the scene.
