Sorry Records is happy to welcome beloved long-time staple of the NYC dance underground Olive T for her sophomore release Birdin in Space — two new cuts full of ethereal synths, jacking grooves, spacey swirls, and cathartic release complete with remixes courtesy of two of our favorite producers from the Canadian techno underground -- Montreal's beloved Martyn Bootyspoon (Fractal Fantasy, LuckyMe, Haus of Altr) and Vancouver acid techno queen Overland (Sweat Equity, Naive, Cin Cin, Planet Euphorique).

You may know Olive T through her fantastic and prolific DJ work in NYC and beyond as well as her acclaimed self-released productions and releases/contributions via outlets such as Allergy Season & Discwoman’s Physically Sick series, Jubilee's Magic City imprint, New Orleans collective Trax Only, San Diego’s Banquet Records, Lychee’s label/zine Spontaneous Affinity, and the Fatherhood (Physical Therapy + Michael Magnan) curated mix comp for NYC house institution Nervous Records.

She’s a long time resident of Brooklyn’s The Lot Radio, resident at NYC institution Nowadays, early Discwoman affiliate, and has shared bills with folks like Honey Dijon, Acemo, Erykah Badu, Yaeji, Lauren Flax, Nitzer Ebb, Minimal Violence, Josey Rebelle, Shanti Celeste, Ash Lauryn, Norm Talley, Kai Alcé, Tedd Patterson, Turtle Bugg, Volvox, Rachel Noon, Umfang, Physical Therapy, Galcher Lustwerk, quest?onmarq, Dax J, The Carry Nation, Mike Simonetti, Patrick Russell, and Mike Servito.

The next instalment of @grid-records comes from Italians @ltd-colours, four excursions showcasing a rhythmic masterclass throughout.

The whole EP is a masterclass in bubbling tension, leading to euphoric releases & pressured build-ups. The four tracks veer from each other with emotive chords and scattered percs, to more sterner club tools laced with fascinating polyrhythms.

'Patterns' rolls out into a deep, polyrhythmic number with a slight UK flavour. Trance-inducing throughout, you'll lose yourself in this lead track.

Honeydrip is the moniker of Montreal-based producer and DJ Tiana Mclaughlin. Drawing inspiration from her Caribbean heritage, Honeydrip crafts music that pays homage to soundsystem culture but through a fresh, contemporary lens that's motivated by her love of experimental electronics and her background in electroacoustics.

Last year she piqued our attention with the drop of her debut EP Anti-Ego. A celebration of the aforementioned sounds and influences, the four tracks across the release explored the intersection of Black culture and electronic music.

More recently she followed this up with a remix EP, where she enlisted friends and favourites including Korea Town Acid, SIM and MISH, to reshape her originals into something completely fresh. 

Today she welcomes you into the Honeydrip world, giving us a look in to her tastes as a selector. It's a fast-paced trip through left of centre club selections, which she describes as her favourite 'Bleeps, Bloops, Womps and Clangs.'

Among the students is a little girl who wears glasses. She set them down on a chair before the class started, the way I used to when I was her age and taking classes with Madame Dismailova. You don’t wear glasses when you dance. I remember that when I was with Madame Dismailova, I would practice not wearing my glasses during the day. The shapes of people and things lost their sharpness and everything was blurry. Even sounds became muffled. Without my glasses, the world lost its roughness and became as soft and downy as the big pillow I used to lean my cheek against before going to sleep.

Franz Kirmann returns to Bytes for his stunning sixth solo album, Forget Me Not, travelling inland to explore buried emotions of longing and loss. The music of Forget Me Not is drenched in blurry melancholy, with fragments of melodies and disembodied voices reaching out through dense, textured clouds of sound, perfectly demonstrated by 'Your Tenderness', the track premiering on R$N today.

A meditation on past mistakes, past love and the passing of time, the compositions on the LP are akin to paintings, layered and still, the slowed-down voices from the deconstructed songs echo through heavy reverberation, becoming distant and sepulchral, evocations of a distant past. The melodies, half erased, become almost subliminal.

Kirmann cites My Bloody Valentine as a major influence on his work, but also artists from the British experimental label Touch, such as Fennesz for his work on granular sound and similar melancholic-centric productions, or Philip Jeck for his use of old records to conjure otherworldly musical textures.

Tephra is the latest mesmerizing, propulsive EP by Philadelphia-based rave conjurer @Furtive released on @mildfantasy. With captivating woozy arpeggios, high-pressure textural progression, and sharp scintillating sound design, a highlight of the EP is Iris Blur with its dizzying melodic progression.

Community Theater is the new project from DJ/producer and “dance music historian” Chrissy (Hooversound, Pets Recordings, Dansu Discs) alongside Lisbon-based DJ/producer/vocalist Maria Amor (Paraíso, Naivety).

The first physical release from Brooklyn-based DIY label Sorry Records, Having Everything draws on Chrissy & Maria's shared love of freestyle (the '80s dance genre that blended pop songwriting with electro production), robotic hi-NRG disco, and late-'80s / early-'90s dance pop. These are big, catchy vocal tunes, ready to smash the rave, school dance, cookout, quinceañera, family reunion, auto show, or your lil cousin's birthday party.

The duo’s previous collaboration, “Your Ghost”, was the standout track from Chrissy's 2019 album Resilience (Chiwax), garnering loads of radio & club support, as well as being licensed for a re-release on Needwant with a remix from X-Coast.

Chrissy & Maria were introduced by Lisbon legend Violet (Naive / Dark Entries), who contributes a remix to this EP alongside heavy-hitters Escaflowne (Sorry Records / Fixed Rhythms), Bianca Oblivion (NTS), and Maria’s Paraíso collaborator Shcuro (Naive / Dark Entries).
