​'Mainline' EP on @floodireland is no exception. Laden with sub and crisp percussion, the EP opener, 'Annan', encapsulates Lithe's unique take on the hard drum style: metallic, cold, mechanised & atmospheric. 'Knock' follows, a brooding 116BPM banger that sounds like an alien mutation of the Timbo production style. 'Mainline' & 'Wikd' close out the EP with off kilter techno kick drums, uncompromising percs and synth lines comparable to Detroit techno with a harder edge.​

Finishing off Henzo’s banner 2022 that has seen releases on YCO and Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, the Manchester based producer dials back the tempo into 5 cuts of gloom-ridden dancefloor damagers for his Nervous Horizon debut. Running the gamut of Dancehall, Techno and Drum & Bass, the EP’s refined palette is laser-guided in its intention of favouring groove and atmosphere over melody and hooks.

The opening track, 'Survivorship Bias', rolls out a lurching and smudged drum break over an equally sketchy Donk and vocal sample in a Bolton-meets-Belgium chug affair. 'It’s Ours and Hours Alone' and 'Writhing' lean more towards a typical Dancehall rhythm, smattered with the reticulated percussion that Nervous Horizon have been known for, saturated and growling. 'His Troublesome Knees' sees a variation on the theme of the opener, with the addition of harrowing, gnarly strings that posit drama in the riff that runs almost throughout; An inescapable tension that juxtaposes the highly danceable groove. Rounding out Stretford Blues, 'A Pocket You Didn’t Expect' feels like 3 tempos at once: 82, 164 and 328BPM. The battering, unrelenting kicks laced over taut breaks and hats hark to Jungle Techno and Tech Step in their composition, but the drawn out and bleak orchestral breakdown, coupled with a barking, irate bassline, suggest that Henzo shows no allegiance to nostalgia and is moving intently into the future.

JUDDER launches its own label with the first release being a VA "Judder Compilation #1". Expect nine tracks, exploring bass-oriented sonics around the 130–160 bpm range, from the likes of both worldwide acknowledged and up-and-coming artists. A huge palette of sounds and different moods meticulously flows through each track from the very beginning to an end — hypnotic swampy vibes, dancefloor-ish breakbeat tools, grime-influenced shellers, heavy-hitting belters as well as unpretentious and minimalistic experiments. [Premiere] Oddkut - The Mystery Lights (Judder)

Dead Trax proudly presents solla’s debut EP “nthat” (DDTX002): two club-ready tracks set at 135 BPM showcasing a unique sound based around intricate percussive work, granulated textures and omnipresent sub bass, always paying tribute to the dub influence which permeates the UK sound.

Born in Bristol, ‘solla’ grew up immersed in diverse musical influences. Driven by a passion for sound exploration, he ventured into the world of synthesis and modular synthesizers, and has now progressed to programming VST plugins for his professional endeavours. With a vinyl release under his original alias SØL on the Karbanik Sound label, as well as several collaborative records with Harrta as Sabasonik, his work has appeared on labels such as Earth & Stone, Outhouse Sounds, and 786 Recordings. After moving to Montreal (Canada) and finding inspiration in the city's dynamic underground music scene, he continues to evolve his sound under the new ‘solla’ alias, all whilst retaining the distinctive influences from his Bristol roots.

Info: Vief’s next fundraiser compilation, as voted for by the 14 contributors to the release, is raising money for Palestine Solidarity Campaign to aid their work in building public support for an end to atrocities currently taking place in Gaza.

Following the Hamas-led attack on Israel on 7th October 2023, the disproportionate response by the Israeli armed forces and government has led to (at the time of writing):

• At least 31,923 people killed, of which more than 13,000 are children (Al Jazeera)
• The destruction or damage of more than half of Gaza’s homes (360,000 residential units) (Al Jazeera).
• ‘Catastrophic’ levels of hunger for more than 1 million people and an ‘imminent’ famine in northern Gaza (the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification).

On 26th January 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to take “immediate and effective measures” to protect Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip from the risk of genocide by ensuring sufficient humanitarian assistance and enabling basic services. Amnesty International and Oxfam have accused Israel of defying this ruling.

“Israeli authorities are not only failing to facilitate the international aid effort but are actively hindering it. We believe that Israel is failing to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide.”
