Two Thousand And Seventeen

The core chord progression, bass line & melodic elements of this track came first and were fairly well established early on, however the drums changed countless times during this track’s evaluation. We really wanted hard-hitting drums with lots of energy but wanted to avoid the obvious. 

Scarp is a geological term which is slightly too technical to get into but it’s basically a specific type of erosion. After the intro when the beat drops on this it feels like everything is falling away to make way for something powerful.  The drums and some of the melodic phrases also have this ‘falling away’ effect.

Taking listeners on a sonic journey through intricate rhythm, warm piano stabs, haunting yet sensual vocals and enveloping atmospherics, M. Vaughan's latest offering is his most personal offering to date. He's supplied material on two of the three compilation releases via his Super Tuff imprint, but now with a full four-tracker under his belt his style truly shines.

Stephan Bodzin & Marc Romboy are no strangers when it comes to working together, in fact, some of the best releases have been collaborations.

Back in 2014 they released the side-winding and majestic 'Kerberos' and now they're offering up a hefty set of remixes of the track.

Alongside the likes of Matador and Andre Hommen, Diynamic giants Solomun and Johannes Brecht have offered up their re-imagining of the track.

Next up on Violet's Portuguese music label @naivetrax, Eris Drew and Octo Octa have teamed up for a rousing split EP, titled 'Devotion'.

According to the press release, 'Devotion' was "written in the weeks immediately before and after a special time the girls spent together in February of 2018, when Maya (Octo Octa) went to heaven and Eris Drew accessed the realm of the Motherbeat from a port deep inside."

Ahead of the EP's release on October 26, Octo Octa has shared 'Beam Me Up' (Goddess Mix). Filled with her lush signature synth sounds, the frenetic breaks and percussion in the track swarm around her gentle melody like hard-working bees trying to please their queen (or goddess for that matter).
