Principles of Geometry have collaborated with the likes of Sebastian Tellier and remixed artists such as Rone and Mr Oizo and now their new album 'Meanstream' has just been released via Tigersushi.

To celebrate the LP release we've been handed one hell of a free download and it comes in the form of a remix by French maestro Crackboy.

For his 'Streamsters' edit, Crackboy has gone down a dark and hypnotic route, using sidewinding and warped synths as the main crux. Big drums and a sinister backdrop are layered alongside the echoed vocals from the original.

Pond Life head honcho Robi debuts on his own imprint with the raucous, modular based ep titled ‘Overnight’. The three-tracker is full to the brim with groovy club centric jams that would get anyone moving in a heartbeat. Surprising to no one is our unabashedly love affair with b sides, as such we’re happy to premiere the final track of the release, titled ‘Cobra’.

Muted melodies and a key undulating synth start the track off strongly and persist throughout. Lending a hand to movement are syncopated textures snapping and crackling in the background. As the label puts, Cobra ‘rounds out the release and dives deeper via multilayered, ethereal synth textures, dreamy bass drones gritty dubbed out stabs and stripped back, saturated rhythm.

Cobra, and the rest of the Overnight EP will be released on Pond Life Records, the 23rd of February.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

Born on a tiny Caribbean island off the coast of Colombia, Dragu moved to Europe at a young age. His journey took him from Italy to Germany, before eventually finding his home in Amsterdam. He quickly made a name for himself in the local scene with a series of parties called Zondagskinderen at the Sugarfactory. Now, as the co-founder of the label and club event ‘What’Sub,’ Dragu explores a unique blend of deep house, tribal drums, and hypnotic techno, always in pursuit of new sounds.

For those who have already heard him play, it was an obvious choice for us to invite this rhythm essentialist to contribute to our podcast series. We are thrilled with his addition and proud to share it with you. Have a listen, have a dance, and enjoy the vibe.

Wit Bad is the result of a beautiful collaborative project that started with illustrator Joost Stokhof. He was asked as an artist in residence for Amsterdam’s Hortus Botanicus, a place where Joost locked himself up for a week alongside the finest biodiversity in the city. Joost asked Eefje de visser to join him for a day and Eefje asked Nuno dos Santos to form a powerful trinity of which Wit Blad is the unmistakable evidence.

The original version was released in April of 2018 and we finally have a vinyl (only) version to go along with it. On the A side we find an 808 version, which is an extended version by Nuno of the ‘Wit Blad’ original. Zooming in on the drums and bass line while leaving even more space for Eefjes haunting voice. Eefje is one of Holland’s best kept music secrets, her voice is soothing and her presence like a siren song seducing you in. Immersing the music with field recordings, you can hear the birds and surroundings the piece was recorded and even some whispering voices that only add to the atmosphere.
Flipping to the other side we find our dear friend Mattheis remixing Wit Blad in a strong hypnotic vibe. Containing Mattheis’ trademark synth swirls, it’s as soothing as it is driving with spine tingling harmonics slowly creeping in and out.

This all comes packaged in a silkscreen printed cover containing the illustrations that Joost Stokhof made during their time together. The vinyl also includes a small poster including extra images by Joost and the lyrics of Wit Blad. Adding up to a beautiful feast for both the eyes and ears.

Suppose you’ve been collecting techno and house records in the last 20 years. In that case, you must’ve come across some of the exceptional deep house releases from Swiss record label Plak Records at one point.  Some of the finest names from the Swiss underground music scene were featured there, including Ripperton, Agnès, Quarion, and the Plak Records founder - Chaton.  

Plak closed its doors in 2014. and after six-year hiatus, Chaton returns with a new vinyl-only imprint - Useless Transmissions.  To start things off on a right note, Chaton steps in for inaugural release and presents us “Never On A Rainy Sunday” EP. Each side of the record carries a different mood. While A-side “And Whatever You Hear Tonight” is a dancefloor-oriented late night deep house, the title track on the flip side is a true IDM bliss. 

“Never On A Rainy Sunday” is a melancholic voyage that brings all the feelings with its sublime melody, atmospheric undertones, and elegant chords. It’s a sheer homage to electronica and IDM records from the ’90s.   

“Never On A Rainy Sunday” EP is coming out on September 25th via Useless Transmissions.
