'My Light, My World' is a gorgeously slammin’ four-track release by Brooklyn-based @ryanclover on Eris Drew’s @ecstatic_editions_23 imprint. The label fell in love with Ryan’s music after wearing out the grooves on his killer 12 inch for ARTS. The tracks featured on 'My Light, My World' are a perfect fit for Ecstatic Editions because, much like Eris’s sets, the tracks are beautiful musically and genuinely emotional, but they also seriously slap and translate powerfully on large sound systems. It is hard to find Big Room records with so much heart, so the label jumped to sign the tracks and prepare the project for release.

Its been 4 years since I put out new music. Over lockdown I retreated fully, burnt out in many ways. It also coincided with a studio move and overhaul of my studio process. As I started to make music again, I instead focussed on the simple joy of creating with with zero thought about sharing it publicly. I have never enjoyed making music like I do now and I think it shines through in these tracks. This EP represents a new chapter for me and I am excited to share the rest of it as well as a bunch more music over the next 12 months.

God, I love it when an EP comes through that just absolutely fits the label to a T. If you have any knowledge of the label at all then I think you could pick any of these four out in a club and guess that they were on Holding Hands.

Pure bass weight swagger is the best way that I can sum it up. Juicy builds that make you want to chew the inside of your mouth off and somehow pull some serious screw face at the same time (quite an image eh?).

'Compulsions' is part of a new release from @treadrecords by London-based DJ and producer, @jeigomusic.

This wonky, atmospheric techno track has been filling up dancefloors over the past few months with support from the likes of Ben UFO and Midland.

AUSTRALIAN LOCAL BERTIE RELEASES FIRST SINGLE FROM DEBUT EP VIA PHENOMENA RECORDS

An uplifting, punchy, dancefloor ready house track, drawing on sapphic history and the artist’s personal journey.

Having established herself as a palpable force in the DJ scene, Naarm-based Bertie is announcing the long awaited single of her debut EP, ‘Carabiner’ on Melbourne/London label Phenomena Records. The first single ‘Carabiner’ launches the forthcoming EP this side of the year on November 16. 

Stylistically, ‘Carabiner’ draws from Bertie’s queer identity, love of groove and years of DJing, to combine the crunchy, punchy stylings of 90s house, with contemporary soundscapes and storytelling. Each track is a fusion of percussive beats, acidic motifs and euphoric highlights with an uplifting nature and groovy finish. As Bertie explains, there’s a multifaceted narrative behind the sounds:

“A carabiner is a coupling link that binds two things together. It’s a tool used by climbers to keep them safe should they fall into suspension, swinging side to side, until they find their grip once more. And most notably, it’s a sapphic symbol. One that took hold in WW2 as women entered the labour force. A multifunctional tool that became a secret signal for lesbians at a time when discreteness was crucial. One that wasn’t just about sex, but about connection, about finding community,” says Bertie.

“This is what I was thinking about when I wrote this single. The communities that make us feel understood, the movement of life and the movement of self, both the physical and the mental, and the connections that occur when people and music come together.”

The first single titled ‘Carabiner’ was built from noises created by the metallic clip - jangling, clicking and tingling. These sounds formed the first beat to which a melody was shaped, and three more tracks inspired, bringing the EP into fruition.

The latest track from @amaliahppeche's forthcoming EP on @djmoxie's @onloopofficial label, 'Me So', shimmers with bubbling assuredness, diffusing Detroit-inspired melodies atop a bumpy house stepper that spurts with synthetic glee along its way.

For the first Klasse Wrecks release of 2024, the label looks back to 2020 and a previously digital only track from label co-owner Mr. Ho. During the first lockdown of covid Mr. Ho released '000Baby' as part of the digital 'Homeboys' EP alongside Luca Lozano. An alternative version popped up on the 'Michaelsoft' album in 2021 but the much lauded original has never seen the light of day on wax....until now. The first 10inch on Klasse Wrecks also features a suped and sped up interpretation from Om Unit, who expertly increases the pressure with deft 808 bass subs, a half time swagger and dubbed out atmospherics.
