The Siren's Song

Since the first time I entered a studio to produce music La Tour has been a constant inspiration.

From time to time in over 30 years I’ve been looking back to his seminal composition “Blue” to find inspiration on the atmospheres and to the extremely creative melodic and rhythm solutions inside what I consider one of my favorite track of all time in electronic music. 

Today I’m releasing my own cover version of another outstanding tune by La Tour, “People Are Still Having Sex”. Have been dreaming for so long to realize it but it took a while to build the confidence to measure myself with such a masterpiece. 

I hope you will find it nice and for those who don’t know the original maybe a chance to discover a piece of our history.

Nathan Micay aka Bwana is gearing up for what promises to be a very busy summer. Earlier this year he launched a vinyl-only label called Schvitz Edits, and the first 12" featured his own unexpected dancefloor edits of Dr. John and Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot.

Out 26th May, the second release finds some of Nathan's friends joining the fun. We're premiering the flip - Glasgow favourite Perko's take on Brazilian bossa nova legend Sergio Mendes' 'Magalenha'. Irishman @jimmyrouge of @orangetreeeditsrishman fame joins the Razor-N-Tape team with a 2-track EP of bumping edit heat. On the A-side “So Long” flips a cheeky hook over a rubbery bass-line, with tension-building synth interludes that release into an ear worm of a vocal riff. On the flip, “Movin’” is a deep uptempo burner with piano stabs, rhythmic guitar plucks and an unstoppable groove. RNT takes it back to their OG format of a single track per side, running loud and proud…one listen to these belters and you’ll see why!

Lifted from the upcoming '5 Years Footjob' double album which see's both a vinyl and digital release in September Sascha Ciminiera's 'Nightsteps' see's the excellent Shan go to work on this super deep  cut. A hypnotic bassline, laser hats and reverb aplenty all come together with well judged keys and fuzzed out noises on a track which has a glorious 4 am energy about it, A wonderful track for those messier moments. @footjob
