The Duca Bianco posse continue to plough headlong into the thicket of vintage dance music across genre boundaries, with a crack team of deepest diggers picking out lesser spotted jams and giving them an expert re-rub. First up, Franz Scala drops some synth-pop B-side dub mix magic on 'Sweet Carillon', before Hysteric leaps into action with the staccato body-popping bombast of 'Pleides', coming on like Yello and The Human League rocking out with Thomas Dolby. Beatfoot & DJ Dollpin bring a seriously salty slice of proto trance voodoo on 'Osdorp Discoteca', capturing the magic of the sound when a melting pot of influences such as Italo disco were feeding into the musical mix. Cherrystones finishes things off with 'Gom Reg Raga', a loping, polyrhythmic meditation with plenty of mysticism folded in between the earthen drums.

All proceeds from the VA will be split equally between the Russian human rights organizations: Mediazona (an independent media platform focused on the judiciary, law enforcement and penal system in Russia founded by Pussy Riot members Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova) and OVD-Info (an independent human rights media project aimed at combating political persecution)".


The Hand to Hand VA geography is: Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Russia, Romania, France, Ukraine, Israel, Lithuania, Greece, the Netherlands and the USA.

I’m proud to present this new release of mine. Not only because it’s me writing the hype sheet, but for the fact that this track has been with me for so long and finally it finds its way out to the public. 

The track itself is inspired by some mid eightees song and the result is a slow pulsating 104 BPM track with lots of melodic synths with a vocal sample saying ROCK IT!
Second reason for the proud moment, we have one of Norways finest in the Disco scene on the remix duty. Following the same path of success as Lindstrøm and Prins Thomas, diskJokke is in great demand, his versions of Ost & Kjex, Daniel Wang, David Lynch, Lindstrom and Bloc Party Monarchy are considered mini-masterpieces, and labels fight to get music from him. His real name is Joachim Dyhrdal, he is a classically trained violinist from Svelvik, Norway

diskJokke is hot property, he rarely do remixes these days. He discovered electronic music aged 15 and as diskJokke he since then produces demented techno and creamy, dub-spacious electronica, house and Italo-disco for a living, with fans amongst tastemakers throughout the electronic-world. His recent release, ‘Maneter’ (with Djuma Soundsystem) was a great success on Sander Kleinenberg’s This Is Records, and there are more golden nuggets in the pipeline we are told.

PREMIERE | Yani Ani - Yalla Bo (D.Y.O.R Remix) [Unterman]

The compilation Ombra INTL 009, is the 9th release from Berlin based label Ombra International. The label looks to deliver post-punk/darker disco, and this is evident in this release. The collective is laden with talent in the field of cold and dark wave music with ORDER89, Local Suicide, Curses, Dog.ma and Amarcord all featuring. This accumulation of music will bring you to the depths of post-disco; where rock, synth and electro all live as one.

The piece kicks off with ‘Future’ by ORDER89. The Parisian trio is made up of Jordi (vocals/bass), FLVN (Machine/keyboard) and Elliot (guitar). Frequently performing their live set in Paris, which began back in 2017. They come off a busy 2018 in which they released ‘Edward’ and ‘Barbara’. Their sound shines in this track, as it delivers hints of EBM and a dark wave 80s vibe. The pounding, yet harmonious vocals are infused with lengthy guitar riffs and kick drums, which are nostalgic of teenage angst.

Local Suicide are well known on the Berlin scene, having played in every big club around the city when they are not touring the world. On the back of their release ‘Komm Ins Loch’ with Theus Mago, the duo are no strangers to collaborating and are chameleons when it comes to mixing their eclectic style. New York native Curses has been based in Berlin for years now. His long-awaited debut album, ‚Romantic Fiction’, was released in October last year via Dischi Autunno, Correspondant’s sublabel. They collaborated to produce ‘Who Cares’. Indeed, who does, setting a tone of eerie passivism with a heavy acidic bassline, the vocals enter to reaffirm this atmosphere. You’ll find yourself letting go of inhibition and swaying to this ominously melodic track, brandishing little remorse for what is going on around you.

Dog.ma was created in 2007 by Cisky Dj and Paolo Soncini. The Italian duo are coming on strong and have their own label now dedicated to the Dog.ma project, 'Dogmatraxxx'. They want continuous growth and are always looking to collaborate. Their track ‘Warrior’ enters in with a post-rock flair. Heavy guitar riffs are coupled on top of a steady bassline to transport you right back to the 1980s. This is only enhanced by the electro-post-pop synthesised keyboard and modulated drum. If you ever wanted to know what it felt like to drive the DeLorean, I imagine this is what it felt like.

Italian producer Amarcord produced the final track. A respected live performer, he is synonymous with immersive, new-wave, electro and psychedelic sounds. ‘Trees’ feels like trying to manoeuvre through the streets of New York at night. Hustle, bustle and trying to get somewhere. It is quite the finale to this compilation, with synthesised builds, guitar riffs, futuristic percussions and infused modulated sounds to give a darker Italo, electro, post-punk sounding track.
