"Texas Terrotech is a combination of hyper-frentic futurism with the gritty global sound of the streets, wherever it comes from. It's the pop music on the radio, combining that with innately adaptable, yet eminently absorbable form which evolved in these different little things, all compatible , yet closely related. When they are decoded from the genome of our global musical collective, their inter-relatedness becomes clear.

The internet removed the physical borders between geography and genres, reducing it into digital code, breaking it into bite-sized bits. This is the sound of the phuture digesting the people.

@asportinglife, aka former Ratking beat-maker Eric Adiele, returns to @r-srecords this month with his 'Black Diamond' EP.

The EP will be his first original release since 2016’s ‘Slam Dunk’ EP series. On it, he links up with a talented team of collaborators including Deem Spencer, Nick Hakim, MIKE & Wiki and Teklife's @Taso, who features on our top tip 'LA Sportiva'.

In its entirety,  'Black Diamond' is a four-track, transatlantic mash-up of blistering club productions, leftfield hip hop verses and heavy, soulful atmospherics. Today, we're delighted to be premiering melodic footwork banger 'LA Sportiva', which we named our bass & club music tune of the month for September. 

“It’s an EP of double meaning," says Adiele on the release. "The EP is inspired by climbing – both the sport and socially. It’s a metaphor of the journey to reach your goals, to hit the summit.”
