Very excited to announce my remix EP with the first single by emerging Eora Nation (Sydney) based producer/DJ @ahju_ahju_ahju!

In "Apophenia (AHJU remix)" AHJU plays with classic 90's UK breakbeat, with piercing high-synth stabs reminiscent of Sydney's vivacious hardstyle underground rave and party scene pre-lockdown. She also hones in on the distorted vocal chops of the o.g. track, moulding them into a high energy dance number ready for dance floors across Aus this coming Summer.

Banoffee Pies Records, in its eighth year of operating, hit the 20th release milestone in their Original Series. Joining the roster, Cairo based producer Hassan Abou Alam steps up with a 4 track solo EP entitled “Fasla”. A decisive selection of attitude packed wormhole bass lines and dark basement jams.

The A side was produced in a special collaboration with local artist SHBL-LBSH who’s vocal works feature across “Kesibt” + “Fasla”. The B side delivers sharp cutting synth lines in “Mawkif” and breakneck low end rumbles in “Hanshoof”. After a series of works on the likes of Naive, Not For Profit and Rhythm Section, Hassan fittingly joins the Berlin based, Bristol born label with more boundless sounds that slice through the fabric of styles that BPR have fostered since inception. Flowing between dreamy textures and imaginative soundscapes, ‘Circadian Rhythm’ is an EP on a quest to find the perfect balance between mindful listening and club hysteria. This is never an easy task, but in the safe hands of UK based producer Will Silver it’s a fluid experience that blends seamlessly between worlds. In the past Will has released genre experiments on Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs label ‘Nice Age’ and has been remixed by renowned producers, Surpreems & 1-800 GIRLS, showcasing a talent for sound design that can sit with the best. 

Will advances into quasi tropical territory, the smell of wet concrete still evident from the world left behind in the mesmerizing opener ‘Sine[IN]’. Ghostly voices combine beautifully with breakbeats and acidic leads resulting in a mysterious tale, its final chapter lost at sea. ‘Oriole’ flips the script and features emerging UK artist Ell Murphy; her gleaming vocals acting as the protagonist in a nostalgic trip of celestial breaks with an electro sheen. ‘She Could Be A Cartoon’ closes out the A side, flanked by intense rhythms, atmospheric melodies and idiosyncratic bass. 

Experimental by nature, balanced by live drum sequences, 'Sci-fi’ produces a unique listening experience with an extraterrestrial twist. The sound of birds in the distance and the cleansing nature of the sea are front and center in ‘Obsolescence’, before the delicate rhythms and entrancing silhouette of ‘Sine[Out]’ waves goodbye from the horizon.
