Often I wonder what it would be like to be the river blistering down Dwight, doused in sweat and steam, hastily rushing to where the waters meet. She moves with such ferocity and ease, unashamed to be sprinting while being bashful to the untrained eye. Even when her currents are withholding and her roots are spreading thin, I know that one chance meeting in her waters will unload me from the mess I’m in. 

Up-and-coming French producer Less-O releases hypnotic bass track 'Behind Closed Doors' ahead of his debut EP Shenanigans via  his brother Simo Cell's TEMƎT. Recorded during the recent lockdown over lengthy night watch shifts, the track is imbued with dark elation propelled by a manipulated laughing vocal sample and drum programming akin to the dripping of water droplets, clicking like excess time of lockdowns gone by. The infectious breaks and cascading bleeps transform mid-track into a miasma of trance influences, through the lens of arpeggiating synth lines and vast space in the soundscape. This track ensures that Less-O should be on everyone’s radar as a keen emerging producer to look out for.

Neida - Can't Get Enough

On Escape from the Club, @alecpace makes his return to All Centre, following up his Absolute Pressure EP from 2019 with four wonky, breakneck techno cuts.

Opener Linea kicks off proceedings with a buoyant approach to electro. Encouraging shouts of “come on” are filtered through disorienting FX, usher in sliding synth lines. As the track progresses, the frenzied synths increase in intensity before giving way to a skeletal drum beat.

On the second track Drowning, throbbing kick drums pair with skizzed-out hi-hats. The track’s wonky, rolling groove builds up towards a propelling synthetic percussion onslaught with unique sound design to boot.

The title track increases the intensity with skewed acidic pronouncements leading into a lolloping 168bpm beat, embellished with Pace’s characteristic vocal sample disfigurations.

Finally the EP settles on its most frenetic excursion, False Claims. Hiking the BPM up to 148, high velocity drums which nod to UK Funky guide the listener towards ecstatic fervor that is hinted at throughout the proceeding tracks.

Pollen Pt. I is the first part of a trilogy of records, showcasing Metrist's latest developments in twisted beat-science. The release combines four tracks of rudeboi electro swagger, off-kilter vocal chops and imaginative grooves. 

Since his L.SAE record in 2015 Metrist has released on Where To Now?, Neighborhood and an LP Opal Tapes, here he refines his sound palette even further, striking a unique balance between the avant-garde and dancefloor.
