Our special guests this week on the Cadenza Music Source to Cycle podcast are Pleasurekraft.

Also known as Kalle Ronngardh and Kaveh Soroush, the duo, from America and Sweden respectively, have been clocking up their releases on labels like Suara, Relief and Black Flag over the last 5 years, collaborations with Green Velvet, Tiger Stripes and Carlo Lio and remixes for the likes of Cajmere, Booka Shade, Pete Tong and many more.  A busy DJ schedule has seen the duo being the decks all over the world, and they’ve just been over in Miami for the Winter Music Conference, moving the South Beach crowds with their brand of house music.  There next release (and first solo release in nearly 2 years), ‘Troller’ is out on their own label Kraftek on April 6th.

Mixtapes have always been a massive part of me as an artist. When I play a live DJ set it’s usually peak time and I cater the music for the dance floor. When I make a mixtape you get the whole of me. 

For me it’s about going on a journey...  Exploring music, the tiny details, the intricate mixing, you can put your style across in a completely unique and personal way and I love that. 

I spent days searching for the beats to include in this mix. It was important for me to use a wide range of music from new and unheard exclusives, current tracks, older tracks as well as some classics that both influenced me through the years and that I still drop in sets today to great effect. Music really is timeless and I wanted this mix to be exactly that.

This Essential Mix is a full representation of my sound and style at this time in my career and was an absolute honour to make.

Beyer's label specialises in colossal techno that always comes armed with something a little different and 'Climax' by Faraone is some of his most brooding work yet.

Dense, Robert Hood-esque basslines and spliced vocals rumble from the off before big drops and fierce cymbals storm into the frame. The drops are bone-crushing and the synths are stadium-sized, making this super-charged track one that'll rain down hell on any soundsystem.

Marlon Hoffstadt is a producer and disc jockey based in the German city. He is also a founder of Retrograde Records alongside Natureboy Gold. His productions are emotive, deep and intrinsic whilst the music he plays out in clubs is wide reaching. The label has been responsible for releasing music from some of the most interesting up and comers: Terron, Matteo Luis, Lo and Paris Brightledge have all featured prominently. The latter has recently become a frequent collaborator with Marlon Hoffstadt and the pair have just released a new EP on Hot Haus Records. 

Most recently Marlon Hoffstadt has launched a new series of parties in Berlin in which he will invite some of his favourite selectors from across the world to play alongside him at Chalet.
