Damn it's been awhile since i've done a mix! Running the events and agency has kept me crazy busy over the last year or so,  but with all the free time that I have now coz of this pandemic..... I really have no excuse. 

Another reason, why I had to do a mix was because Blackout Agency was invited by More Unst Radio to host a takeover, so I gathered a few of my homies , Brendon P, Maurice Simon and the master of the trippyness Eric Volta to put together something for the show. (All other mixes be up soon) 

I went into this mix with the idea of creating something that could be played at sunset, sunrise or an after party. Something trippy, but laid back and not too intense. I put together some of my fav tracks here for this mix and ended on a note with "Bryan Ferry - Don't Stop The Dance." These four words mean even more to me than they did before, especially in these crazy times where clubs, bars, events, concerts festivals and everything that I love has now come to a standstill. 

Whatever troubles, whatever these new rules are, whatever the circumstances we may face, even as we are locked in our own home, put on some music and.... "Don't Stop The Dance."

Was recently invited to do a mix for the Huntleys + Palmers radio show on RinseFM in the UK. Rinse FM is one of the leading radio stations for top quality electronic music and a lot of my favourite artists have either held down residencies or done mixes for many of the shows on the station. Being a part of something like this is very special to me. =) Massive thanks to Andrew Thomson for making this happen.

One of Amsterdam's key figures when it comes to meaningful and predestinate electronic music is Nuno Dos Santos. Whether as an artist, producer or label owner Nuno has always contributed his part to the local and international scene as he has overcome the boundaries of classifying music – whether at an artistically level or with his label Something Happening Somewhere, short SoHaSo. Speaking of the latter, Nuno has established an imprint that covers a potpourri of favored and sophisticated music varying between dub-ish approaches, sometimes with a straight four to the floor direction to then focus on a profound Electronica feel, sometimes it's more Techno, sometimes more House, but it's inevitable to not sense the typical atypical Nuno flavor in the music that's put out, namely these spheric synth-chord (vibrations) creating an out of space-feel on club Earth, providing each track with shimmering deep-darkness that touches you at an emotional level simply because it has soul, because he got soul. And that is what Nuno's been doing: playing, producing, putting out authentic pieces of the arts and for his art:cast approach, putting those together in an expressive journey from deep to disco-wefts, from Dub to House, from space to Earth and back.

John Noseda - Sapiens Mix for Maxximum Radio - August 2020

Having released the acclaimed Be Mine on Crosstown Rebels in 2017, Berlin-based Siopis lands on Rebellion with Unconditional, a poignant two-tracker that features the vocals of esteemed DnB lyricist, MC Coppa.

“An interview with Lauryn Hill inspired me to make this release. It blew me away and I felt it straight in my heart, so I wanted to share the deep message that comes from it. I put her vocals into the break of the lead track, and Unconditional was born.” Siopis.

Beginning with the ethereal sounds of Unconditional, the lead track is a journey into electronic music’s spiritual realm, as supple keys vibrate alongside a gently moving bassline. A sample from Lauryn Hill’s iconic speech acts as the breakdown, before the emotive bassline comes back in to pull deeply on our heartstrings. Kaleidoscope feat. MC Coppa completes the release. Bubbling with subtle hats and dreamy pads, the moving cut takes on a tougher edge with MC Coppa’s stirring monologue, whilst Siopis’ flagship club-ready sound features right the way through to form a track that sounds perfect at home, and on the dancefloor.

A prolific producer, Siopis has been carving out a career in electronic music for more than a decade. Previously known under his Silversurfer moniker, he is responsible for some of Crosstown Rebels’ earliest releases, producing 2004’s Parisis and collaborating with Kiki on the seminal Shake Off that same year. Fast-forward to more recent times where continued releases on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels and M.A.N.D.Y’s Get Physical Music have helped define his emotional, dance-oriented sound, whilst frequent performances at clubbing institutions such as Hoppetosse and Golden Gate have established him as a regular on the Berlin circuit. With international sets under his belt at the likes of Miami’s Ocean’s Ten and Mexico’s Americana Club Social, the future continues to shine bright for Siopis.

#Savemusicsg was set up to help raise awareness to bring forward a discussion with the govt here about how these rules are affecting not only the livelihood and the mental state of musicians, but also the people stuck here in this warped reality.

Here's the recording of my set from the 2 day live stream featuring some of the local DJs . I hope you enjoy this mix and I hope to share a dancefloor with all of you soon.
