Mind | Matter is the main musical project of french artist Théo Ferretti. Born and raised in Paris, M|M aims to fuse his post-punk roots with shades of electronic body music, martial industrial and mystic techno rhythms. After making his place on the french industrial scene he joined RAW Agency and released on labels such as Detriti Records, Intervision, Forbidden Teachings, EGONlab, Crave Tapes & others. His sound can be described as a melt of darkness and poetry, an encounter between chaos and romanticism.

The Forgotten CCLXX: Mind | Matter

Baudelaires poetries remain one of the most influential centrepieces in my book collection and they are maybe my most re-read volume of poems. Like all great poets he was an acute observer and an ingenious translator of feelings. His words paint precise and poignant pictures of the shapeless and inenarrable, like a mood or a sentiment. Sometimes only music can have the same effect on me. However, the fascination and the bloom of „Les Fleurs du Mal“ goes beyond that. Baudelaire's observations, could be considered overall as „negative“, for example as pessimistic - like the unfulfilled human pursuit of integrity -, or as repulsive - like the tristesse of urban hedonism. Induced by the linguistic beauty the emotional experiencing of the seemingly „negative“ or „evil“ - which in some places of the book can be kind of an explicit sense of self - transforms into a bittersweet atmosphere that holds grace and grandeur. Here I see a strong commonality with some music I love and I feel there is a similar approach entire music genres might have pursued: Maybe more than other art forms, music is sometimes met with refusal, confusion and lack of understanding when things become aestheticised, that are distasteful, obnoxious, cruel or - to stay with Baudelaire - „evil“. But behind all this stands a reality, the musician as an acute observer is witness to. Ars longa, vita brevis.

This mix, rather a sound collage, is meant to sonically illustrate the pictures Baudelaire put in my mind; sometimes a direct reflection of the texts, sometimes a associative pairing to the feelings Baudelaire's words elicit. Ancient Methods was born from the union of Conrad Protzmann and Michael Wollenhaupt, two Germans dedicated to produce techno without any kind of complexes who also sign their solo works as Baeks and Trias. Eventually, and after the departure of Wollenhaupt, Protzmann decides to stay with the solo project.

His career, based on the release of several EPs, most of them on his own label of the same name, begins to atomize with collaborations on other publishing platforms such as Sonic Groove, RSB, Fondation Sonore, aufnahme + wiedergabe or Hands Productions.

Reconnue pour ses sets gorgés de sonorités froides et métalliques nous replongeant dans l’ère post-industrielle des années 80, Minor Player explore les profondeurs de l’EBM et de l’ambient techno pour créer une atmosphère à la fois intense et dystopique.

The Fifth Stigma is an industrial and esoteric project by French-American artist Rodolphe Vidal. Through music, Vidal explores fictive history and forgotten wonders.

Unlike contemporary techno, The Fifth Stigma produces slow, heavy, and raw metallic techno influenced by history, emotions, and obscure world music. This project aims to stand out in a fast-paced, homogenized musical landscape.

Vidal creates intimate sonic atmospheres filled with captivating imagery and explores diverse sounds, from ritualistic elements to techno, noise, and punk electronics. The sets feature a range of genres, including techno, EBM, and unconventional club electronics, each telling a unique story.
