Biography:
Hi, I'm lisa luka and I've been behind the decks since summer 2020. Or rather, I sat there at first because I broke my leg at the time. However, that didn't stop me from performing at some smaller events or clubs. The years before you could meet me at all kinds of electronic festivals and since these were almost completely canceled last year, it was only a matter of time before I got off the dance floor behind the DJ desk. The music I play is mostly between 90 and 105 bpm. What I play is difficult to classify into genres, as I always choose my tracks based on my feelings and so my sets are sometimes very different, but always contain a lot of love. This podcast is a dreamy one, hope you enjoy it :)

Jahrelang war lisa luka auf allen möglichen Dancefloors anzutreffen, bis letzten Sommer alle Festivals und Partys ins Wasser fielen – und sie vom Pferd. Der Pandemie, einem gebrochenen Bein sowie ihrer unfassbar großen Liebe zur Musik ist es zu verdanken, dass sie seitdem nicht nur auf der Tanzfläche, sondern auch hinter den Decks zu finden ist. Ihr Sound bewegt sich meistens zwischen 90 und 105bpm, in ganz seltenen Fällen sogar um die 120bpm. Mal dark und treibend, mal verspielt, trippy oder dreamy – es ist schwer, lisa luka in eine Schublade zu stecken. Jedenfalls spielt sie nur das, was sie „fühlt“, auch wenn dies oftmals einen wilden Genremix bedeutet.

INTERVIEW:
1. Wie lange legst du schon auf und was hat dich dazu bewegt, aufzulegen?

lisa luka: Ich lege ziemlich genau seit Juli 2020 auf, da es weder Partys noch Festivals gab und ich unbedingt zu meiner Lieblingsmusik tanzen wollte. Im August habe ich mir dann das Bein gebrochen und ich hatte noch mehr Zeit, mich mit dem Auflegen zu beschäftigen. Mit dem Geld aus meiner Unfallversicherung habe ich mir Equipment zugelegt und so wurde aus einem Hobby ziemlich schnell eine Leidenschaft. 

1.1. Hattest du Support dabei, oder wie hast du das Auflegen gelernt? 

lisa luka: Meine Freunde, von denen selbst viele DJs sind, haben mich von Anfang an unterstützt, mir die Basics gezeigt und mir tausende Fragen beantwortet. Danke an dieser Stelle vor allem an @jantaubmann @elec-brown und @finnkir Durch meinen Freundeskreis hab ich auch ziemlich schnell meine ersten Gigs gespielt, da ich oft zu Veranstaltungen mitgenommen oder ich für bestimmte Events empfohlen wurde. Dafür bin ich wirklich sehr, sehr dankbar ☺ 

2. Gibt es einen speziellen Moment/Event an den/an das du dich gern zurückerinnerst? 

lisa luka: Da muss ich sofort an meinen allerersten Gig auf einem kleinen Festival von Freunden denken. Das Set hab ich wochenlang vorbereitet. Ein paar Tage vor dem Festival wurde ich  aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen und wollte es mir nicht nehmen lassen, aufzulegen. Was ich dann auch getan hab – im Sitzen und mit Gipsbein. Wahrscheinlich hab ich zwei Stunden ununterbrochen gegrinst, weil ich so glücklich war. 

3. Was wünscht du dir, sollte in Zukunft in der Clubszene anders laufen? 

lisa luka: Ich würde mir mehr Diversität und weniger Sexismus in der Szene wünschen. Und viel mehr Empowerment und Support untereinander. Außerdem sollen FLINTA* nicht nur gebucht werden, um ein ausgeglichenes Line Up sicherzustellen, sondern weil es musikalisch passt!  

4.  Gibt es ein Thema, das dir sehr am Herzen liegt oder ein Projekt, das dich beschäftigt? 

lisa luka: Heute (Sonntag) starten wir mit unserem neu gegründeten Kollektiv von electronicflowyoga www.instagram.com/electronicflowyoga wöchentliche online Yoga Sessions, jeweils kombiniert mit einem Downtempo Set unserer DJs. Sollte es wieder möglich sein, gibt’s natürlich bald auch wieder Live Sessions, z. B. auf Festivals. Für mehr Infos schreibt mir gerne oder schaut auf gerne mal auf insta oder Facebook vorbei.

es war einmal in einer sternenklaren sonntag nacht nach einem super sonnigen sonntag nachmittag als die zwei soundcloud freundinnen @wanda-wild und @lisa_luka sich zum dritten mal trafen und sie leicht angetrunken den rec button drückten und mal wieder eine verdammt gute zeit hatten. und wenn sie nicht gestorben sind, dann wird das wohl noch öfter passieren. «Tony the clock, had ambitions to travel - but run out of time…»

Ziemlich sicher liegt es daran, dass auf dem Insta-Account von Lisa Luka schöne Fotos von nem knallorangen Camper zu sehen sind, dass ich nun dieses Bild vor Augen habe. Ich sehe genau diesen Bus mit runtergedrehten Scheiben gemächlich durch eine laue Sommernacht tuckern. Wohin es geht weiss man nicht - aber es ist äusserst gemütlich und ich denke hier ist eh der Weg das Ziel. Lisa Luka scheint Zeit zu haben, der orange Bus auch - und du (der blinde Passagier am andern Ende der Kabel) hoffentlich auch! Wieso sollte man auch ankommen wollen, wenn die Reise doch so schön ist?!
Zwischendurch meldet sich das Getriebe und man hört mechanisch anmutende Geräusche, aber selbst diese sind von warmer Natur. Den was da sonst so durch die offenen Fenster weht und sich mit dem Fahrtlärm vermischt erzählt von einer langsamen Reise durch warme Gefilde und lässt die Gedanken in die Ferne schweifen…

KLEINE GESCHICHTE:

imagine you started djing about 1,5yrs ago because of a pretty selfish reason: you just wanted to be part of a beautiful festival summer but simply just could not because of a broken leg. the solution: change the dancefloor against the dj booth. yes, it is possible to spin records while sitting (with an itchy cast) on a dark green velvet sofa in front of your smiling and dancing friends. and you know what? it is the most beautiful feeling i have ever had :) 

imagine spending every single minute with practicing, digging music and creating sets. imagine working fulltime in a regular job but also fulltime on the weekends behind the decks. imagine finding a hobby that gives you nothing but love and joy. imagine turning that hobby into a passion.

imagine being super insecure even though you already have a lot of bookings. imagine being full of doubts every time you hit the play button. 

imagine you suddenly get a mail. PING. the mail is from @mira_kater. it is your first booking at kater blau. the place you loved so much since ever. the place you feel like home and identify with. the booking you have dreamt about since the beginning.

and then imagine you have to go there alone because all of your friends are at a festival at your hometown. the festival you built all together. the festival that means family to you. imagine switching your playtime and leaving your friends at the peaktime to catch your train in the morning to go to berlin nearly without any sleep. 7 hours of loneliness, 7 hours to get nervous like hell. 7 hours to prepare your set. imagine arriving at berlin super happy and super sad at once. 

yes, i was full of doubts again when i hit the play button at my beloved hopper floor. i missed my friends. i was afraid to fail. but suddenly everything changed. i changed. i changed my playlist and i changed my mindset. and that changed everything.  

i realized how fucking blessed i am. i realized that i am just so honored to warm up the floor for mira. i realized that i got booked for such a big event as a newcomer. i realized kater opened its doors for fresh faces and i am one of them. 

and then i realized my little brother who came to see me playing for the first time. i realized one of my oldest friends who came to cheer me up even though she usually does not listen to that kind of music. i realized one of my newest friends who came all the way from freiburg just to support me. i realized another good friend  who danced like there is no tomorrow even though i opened a completely empty dancefloor. and then i realized all these strangers who started to fill the floor even though the sun was shining outside and a lot of headliners were playing at the same time. 

family, friends, strangers, me - we danced and smiled together. and i got so so happy :) i played just how i felt. i played a looot of my fav bar25 and katermukke hits. this is the result. i hope you like it.

Lisa is relatively new name in the podcasting game. One can hear that she is a music lover that understands sharing the vibe. She writes about herself:

Festivals are my home. Since there were almost no events last year, I dared to get behind the decks for the first time and since then I try to put as many favorite tracks as possible into my sets to bring some festival feeling home to me and my friends. As time went by last year, so did my sets: s l o w. 
However, 2020 didn't just go by very tough, it was also filled with a lot of emotions. I think that is also reflected in my music: driving, dreamy, playful, crazy, dark. Most of the time I played the way I felt at the time. Often it was very mixed up 🙂 I can't wait to play in front of people and be inspired by their feelings.
